DATE:          November, 1997 around 4:00 P.M. C.S.T.
 

LOCATION: Tennessee, Overton County
 

TERRAIN:    Mountainous, with deep gorges, heavily wooded,
                uninhabited area’s to the east for miles.
 

OBSERVED:  (Taken from taped interview)  I was out.  You know.  I take walks around there a lot.  There was a time when I was walking (November, 1997) and I seen something extremely tall.  It looked sort of like a man, but it was really dark like no clothes (on it).  It looked like it had hair on it.  And it was about pretty tall compared to the trees across there.  And I thought, I wondered, what that is, you know, and then…then I got scared, and because I’d heard that if it was a bigfoot, they could attack people and so I took off running, and I kept looking back, and the only thing it did…it would run a few paces and go next to a tree and just stand there like it was watching me, and seeing what I was doing…and I kept going…and it just slowly disappeared into the woods…like it was scared of me…sort of like it was trying to hide behind those trees….but it kept moving along, trying to get away I think, because I was scared of it.  I just kept cussing and yelling (at it).

QUESTION:HOW FAR WAS THIS FROM YOUR HOUSE?
Ah…you see my house, we live up on this hill, and it was on the next hill, just across there ‘cause there’s like two or three (hills) back behind my house …and it was the one to the side there.  It was all woods.

QUESTION:AND WHAT WERE YOU DOING?
I was just out walking.

QUESTION:WHAT TIME OF DAY WAS IT?
It was around maybe 3 or 4 in the afternoon.  Somewhere around there.  It would have been dark in a while.  It was back in the winter when this happened.  It was kind’a cold out.  I don’t think there was any snow but it got dark early, kind of, so I was just going home and I was in the woods.

QUESTION:DO YOU GO OUT IN THE WOODS VERY OFTEN?’
All the time, and I’ve noticed when it’s dark, like I’ve got 20 acres of land out there.  We’ve got a couple of houses back there, abandoned, and I’ve walked out there and I’ve seen footprints that are real big…and I’ve seen things that have been tore up, you know, metal stuff, things that looked like a human being couldn’t, wouldn’t be that strong.  It looked like something maybe a little bigger, stronger, than you know, like my Dad will have things sitting out front like….he’ll accuse me of breaking his stuff, but it’s always outside…it’s never in the house, and that’s what I try to tell my Dad.  You know, things like that…things will come up missing, and we’ll find them later.

QUESTION:WHERE DO YOU FIND THESE THINGS AT?
Usually, like I said, my Dad’s got tools or something in the yard.  They’ll come up gone and then he’ll find them laying around the yard, or lying on the porch, or something.  And I thought that if it was somebody trying to steal them, then they wouldn’t have brought them back, so I kind of wondered about that too.  We’d hear screams in the night out in the woods.

QUESTION:WHAT DID THE SCREAMS SOUND LIKE TO YOU?
Sort of like, uh, …it wasn’t a high pitched scream or nothing…it was sort of like a deep voice…sort of sounded like…uh…I don’t know…sort of like a man yelling.  A man with a deep voice or something.

QUESTION:ON THOSE PRINTS THAT YOU FOUND.  CAN YOU TELL ME IF THERE WERE ANY TOES AND IF SO, HOW MANY?  OR ESTIMATE HOW LONG THEY WERE.
I’d say that they were probably, maybe like that (showed me about 15” estimated length between her hands). It looked like…the prints, the ones I seen…it was muddy…and they looked sort of like, whoever or whatever was walking, kind of slipped, because it was sort of messed up, but it was a BIG print.  But it looked like they were barefooted to me, but I couldn’t really tell it was so muddy.

QUESTION:SO YOU NEVER SEEN ANY PRINTS THAT SHOWED TOES?
Not really.  That part was messed up.  But it did look like a big footprint though.

QUESTION:DID THEY GO VERY DEEP IN THE GROUND?
Yeah…like maybe about that far.  (She then measured about ¾” in depth with her fingers) about like that.  Well, they were deep compared to when I walked on that ground.
 

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE: Only as stated above…very tall, dark colored, hairy.
