DATE:            July/August 1977
 

TIME:               Between 10:30 and 11:00 P.M.  Night-time
 

LOCATION:    Cold Springs Road Mountain City, TN. Johnson County
                          It was between Highway 431 and Hospital Drive. There was a road
                          closer to the highway, but I am now unsure of the name although I
                          believe it was Shupe's Mill Road. So if I am correct, it was between
                          Shupe's Mill Road and Hospital Drive.
 

TERRAIN:   Mountains, yet in a rather populated area
 

Observed:  I was driving home from work between 10:30 and 11:00 PM in the late summer (July or August) in 1977. I was travelling down Cold Springs Road, when I saw a large creature with long shaggy hair standing just at the edge of the road. The creature had its arms outstretched in front of it, although I don not believe it was holding anything. It was at least 6 feet tall and the hair was about 6 inches long all over it. It was so shaggy I did not see a face. The hair was silverish with the ends tinged rather a reddish brown color. I traveled maybe 200 ft before I could turn around. When I went back there was nothing left to be seen.

Activities of Witness:  I had just finished cleaning up at work which was a fast food restaurant in Mountain
City.  And was driving home.

Description of Creature: at least 6 feet tall and the hair was about 6 inches long all over it. It was so shaggy I did not see a face, the hair was silverish with the ends tinged rather a reddish brown color

Other Notes:  None that I was aware of until my mom recently told me others in Mountain City had seen similar creatures. I had not heard of them being in Tennessee.
