LOCATION:   Buchanan County, Virginia

TERRAIN:       Narrow Passage Road,  Wooded near a river
 

OBSERVED:  My mother was driving down the road, and to the right over an
incline is the James River and beside it woods. It was a pretty day and she
was looking out at the river when she seen something out of the corner of
her eye. She slowed down to look and seen what she thought was a bear. But
then it started walking only on two legs and this shockingly surprised her
and sort of scared her.

She was at some distance she says, but close enough to see it was no bear,
and that its arms were long and hair was brown and longer than a bears.
She says it was also bushy. Then it was like it noticed her for a minute,
then took off running very fast on its two legs in the woods. She didn't tell
anyone but my dad at first for fear that everyone would think she was crazy.

But, one night a cousin was over and said that her brother in law seen something strange and only told his wife for he didn't want anyone to think he was crazy! She of course told her sister, and she told my mom and her friends. She said he was coming home from work and out in a field along his way (which is also close to a river)  he seen a bear.  So he stopped and looked at it and then realized it wasn't a bear.

It was tall and brown with bushy hair and pudgy face and stood upon 2 legs.
And just like my mom, it noticed him and watched for a moment before it took
off very fast. My sister told her husband and he knows someone who seen the
same thing, in the woods when he was hunting before daylight.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):  driving down the road

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   Brown, tall, bushy hair, pudgy face and stood on 2 legs.   Runs very fast

OTHER NOTES:  I have heard people talk about hearing loud screaching noises in
the woods in the area.  I have always heard they move at night, but
these two instances were both in daylight.  The screaching was before
day break.
