DATE:               Early 1997
 

LOCATION:    Bayou D'Arbonne Lake, outside of Farmerville Louisiana, inUnion Parish.
 

TERRAIN:      Wooded area, ravines and meadows.
 
 

OBSERVED:  I was Coon Hunting along with a friend of mine.  We have lived and hunted in these woods all our lives.  Anyway, we were at apoint where we heard the dogs really acting up as if they had gotten on the trail of a coon, and we were running through an open meadow area.  We entered a slight wooded portion and we all of a sudden fell.  We hadfallen down an embankment of a fairly steep ravine and landed onto a little flat.  Just on the other side of us was the big drop off thatwent further into this ravine. It was really dark and murky appearing down in there.  We were laughing at how silly we felt about what we had just done, and we noticed we couldn't hear the dogs anymore.  We got quiet and then we heard this low eerie moan.  It seemed to come frombelow us further in the ravine, and it filled the whole woods like it just basically surrounded us.   About the same we got a whiff ofsomething that just down right stunk.  It smelled like a mixture of something dead and it also had a sulfurous smell as well.  I accused myfriend of farting, but he swore he didn't.  Anyway, the moans were eerie enough that we ended up cutting our hunt short.  I felt as if somethingwas watching us, the whole time afterwards.  It  was kind of like asixth sense or something like that.  Just a feeling you get when something is watching you in secret and you feel something is not right.

I have since went back there in the daylight after talking with Bobby Hamilton of the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization, and really looked the area over.  It was then that I realized just how closewe really were on this thing.  It had to have been right below us in that deeper section of the ravine.  If we'd have went on over that edge,we'd have probably landed right on top of whatever that thing was.  I do know this, I used to only carry a .22 hunting in the woods there, butfrom now on, I will also carry a bigger gun along for peace of mind.
 

 Description of Creature:  Not an actual sighting, but low eerie moans were heard, as well as something that smelled like it was rolled insulfur and dead.

Other Notes:   I have talked to my Father who lives on the bank of thislake and has for years. After hearing of this incident and he told me that he knew something about this creature, but wouldn't tell me what it was he knew.  He just changed the subject. I'm sure he knowssomething about it.  I personally think he may have encountered it himself, but just refuses to speak of it.
