LOCATION: Overton County, Tennessee
 

TERRAIN:     Mountains, wooded
 

OBSERVED:   Myself, my youngest son, and youngest brother and his girlfriend went to an area in Overton County known for recent bigfoot activity.  This area has been under investigation for many years by GCBRO.

We went to a remote cabin that sets away from the others that are in this area. It's a cabin that we had not gotten too before and we wanted to check it out.  We had spent four or more earlier visits to this area in preceding weeks.  We had to go through the woods to get to it. We got to it and went inside the cabin and looked around and to the back of it near the window we smelled a smell.  It was a very wild, musky odor. We didn't think to much about it at the time because we were not sure where it was coming from.

Then we went back out of the cabin and I was looking around it and I noticed a bunch of branches and trees.  I then got to really looking at it and it had to have been made and not occurred just naturally, as it had one big tree that did fall itself and had a smaller tree that had been bent down. Then there was other smaller trees that looked to have been broken down and moved there and stacked on it and then about a 5 foot long part of a tree which was 5 or 6 '' thick put on the top of the rest.

I got to taking pictures and started to go to the other side of the cabin and came back and took a picture of the cabin door where it showed it was cabin #X.  We started around the cabin and seen a track that looked to be a bear track and about then, me and John looked at each other and he said he could feel some kind of presence watching us and I said I could too and we suddenly felt like we should go. I had my 8 year old son with me and we really hadn't thought about seeing anything in the day time hours.  As we were leaving the feeling got really bad like whatever it was,  was upset with us for being around the territorial marker or making pictures.  As we passed the last cabin going back down we felt like some of the threatening feelings were easing off somehow and didn't feel as threatening as it had seemed before.

We went down a little more and about where you could look back and see other cabins on top of the rocky hill side.  I turned real fast and looked up because I had a sense something was watching my back, and that is when I saw a light brown figure with hair about 4'' long about 200 foot away.  Its hair seemed to look like a soft brown glow as the sun was hitting it from the front.  I didn't see any neck, the head was cone shaped but it seemed to be more bushy haired than any I've seen on Bill Asmussen's web site.  The closest I can come to the shape of its head is the one Bill A. drew that my sister saw as a child while out picking blackberries.

The shape of its head is almost identical to that one he has displayed on his web site.  It had no visible neck, but longer haired that flowed down from around its face, seemingly a long beard in front. It looked extremely stout.  It moved so fast as it seemed to move down in a sideways motion to my left, so that I could no longer see it. I didn't get to see its face as it was too far away. It looked to be approximately 5 or 6 foot tall, but I didn't get to see the whole body,  just saw it from about the hips up.

I told the others what I saw and they all looked but it didn't come out again where they could see it.  So we started back down the mountain once more and John's girlfriend looked back to see if she could see it as she was really wanting to get a look at whatever was following us off that mountain.  She said once that she could see the arm of it as it went behind a tree. As down the path we came, it come across the road where we had been, she told me.  She said from what she could tell it had come down and across the road and back in the woods. We could feel it watching us and felt like it came about down to where we had the car parked. It didn't seem to want to hurt us as it seemed to be just curious about us.  We sat in the car for a while to see if it would come out a little so we could get another look at it and we were very frustrated because we had already used up all our film.  We'd been taking photographs of the broken and twisted trees, territorial markers also.

We even tried to play the radio to see if we could get it to come closer so we could see it again as this has proven to work before in this area. After approximately 45 minutes we decided it was not going to show itself anymore and so we left.
 
 

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):   We had gone to this area to photograph the territorial markers and to see if the bait had been taken that we had left in the area on earlier visits.  9 bait stations were checked and only two apples were left at 9 foot high.  All of the other bait we left was taken also.  Stan, checking the bait stations out later, found the last two apples had been taken.  Stan put out more and these are being checked on again.
 

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   A light brown figure with hair about 4'' long, 5 to 6 foot tall, hair looked like a soft brown glow as the sun was hitting it from the front.  I didn't see any neck, the head was cone shaped but it seemed to be more bushy haired than any I've seen on Bill Asmussen's web site. OTHER NOTES:      Tracks were found and filmed in this area by GCBRO researchers Susan S. and Stan S.  There have been several prior sightings in this area.  Also same area where the photograph of the family of bigfoot was taken by my mother in Feb of 1998, and another visual sighting by her and John in the fall of 1999.
