LOCATION:    Overton County, Tennessee
 

TERRAIN:       Wooded hillside, creek below
 
 

OBSERVED:  The witness had fallen asleep in his car, beneath the kitchen of his house in a pull in garage.  He lived there with his parents and sister, and his niece was also spending the night.  He had been out late and didn’t want to enter through the basement and disturb anyone asleep upstairs.  He had been drinking and was a bit intoxicated. He left his radio on and climbed over into the back seat and laid down, falling asleep rather quickly.

He was awakened sometime later with a violent rocking of his car.  He sat up and looked out the rear window and came face to face with a very human like face, but very hairy with reddish glowing eyes.  He said the thing, whatever it was, was huge and that it was very dark brown or nearly black in color, had long hair where he could see it, but none on the face.  The shoulders were huge and broad and it had its hands on the rear of the trunk and pushing down on it, making the rocking motions of the car.

In a moment it quit rocking the car and he thought it had left, so he took that opportunity to jump out of the car and go in through the basement and up the stairs, shouting for everyone to wake up and get the guns out.

All in the house woke up as he was grabbing his gun and turning the outside flood lights on.  His father got his gun also and they went out to check, but could find nothing.  Still, they decided to go and check the car out and unexpectedly found dusty,  king-size hand prints on the back of the car.  They did not measure the hand prints but the granddaughter placed her hand on one while no one was looking and it scared her how big they were to her hand in comparison.  They thought also there were smeared, dusty footprints on the rear bumper of the car.  The weather was extremely dry at this time and the gravel driveway was very dusty.  All of them decided that night not to ever tell anyone else about what had happened or what they had found, but in later years, with other things going on, the granddaughter related this sighting.
 

Description of Creature:   A very human like face, but very hairy with reddish glowing eyes.  He said the thing, whatever it was, was huge and that it was very dark brown or nearly black in color, had long hair where he could see it, but none on the face.  The shoulders were huge and broad.

Other Notes:   The family had a very good guard dog at this time and even though they called for it and tried to find it that night, it did not show up until the next morning. There have been two and possibly three other visual sightings of a bigfoot type creature that were known in this area before this occurrence.  However, the parties involved in the other sightings were not believed that they had seen actually seen a bigfoot.
