Received From: The GCBRO Online
Report Submission Form.
DATE:
1987
TIME:
Around Midnight
LOCATION: Travis County, Texas
TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED:
I have not told anyone this story in quite a long time, but back in 86
or 87 myself Jon, and Dave used to play war games in the woods near Jon's
mothers house. We were camping about 50 - 60 yards from Jon's moms
house. We were positioned right beside a creek bed and had our tents
set up around a campfire pit we had dug out and set rocks around.
We were cooking out and my buddy Dave was getting drunk. Myself and
Jon did not want to drink. Well it was getting late, so we called
it a night. Dave slept in the tent with me and Jon, cause his tent
was soaked from the previous nights rain. About midnight or so, myself
and Jon heard this scream so loud it scared me down to the very core of
my soul. It sounded like it came from the hill behind our tent.
After a second, we heard another scream, and the sound of a tree or branch
being snapped and rolling somewhere down the hill. By this point
myself and Jon were completely terrified, whispering to ourselves what
would we do if that thing got into the tent. Dave was still passed
out and Jon and I grabbed our survival knives. That is when we heard
heavy footsteps approaching our camp. At that point we both made
up our mind not to look outside of the tent. The thing walked around
the whole campsite and slowly around Dave's wet tent. Then it walked
around our tent. It came to a stop right behind mine and Jon's head.
We heard heavy breathing and slight movement. Then it turned away
and walked off. As it left and was on the hill it let out another
scream. We could not sleep much through the rest of the night.
We got out of the tent the next morning, to see if we could not find any
tracks. Due to the leaf fall on the ground we found none. But
we found the broken tree and it was a good size that had looked like it
had been pushed over and broke at the base. I have not been back to that
place since 1987. I have been in the military for 13 years now and
never heard anything like that before. I was afraid to tell anyone
this because of being made fun of.
Activities of Witness:
We were camping and cooking food at the campfire and just busy being teenagers.
Description of Creature:
No observations were made. We were too scared to come out of the
tent. The sound of a good sized tree being broken. A very unnerving
screaming sound enough to scare us to pieces. Heavy footsteps around
camp.
Other Notes:
That's the only time we ever heard it. We were cautious every time
we went out there. A feeling of uneasiness came over us ever time
we were out there.
Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments: Upon contact the witness had no additional information to add to this report.
