Well, this info is second hand but my father
has no reason to lie. I will set the stage with an event that took place
at least 22 yrs ago along Hwy 184 which runs right in front of my g.mom's
house (one of about five
homes)kind
of secluded. The county/city ran a water line out to the rural areas which
my g.mom's house was. It had rained and the red clay that was exposed because
of the recent digging of the pipe line was good and sticky.
My
little brother (4yrs my jr.) and I were walking down the pipeline close
to the woods (pine sapling thicket undergrowth with alot of old growth
hard woods) and I found an arrowhead. This was grand, so I thought we should
walk a little further and see if we could find others. Well, we were about
100 yrds from the house when we noticed sounds of foot steps in the woods
that seemed to move with us. I figured it was just some birds working
through
the summer dried leafs for food.
It
wasn't long until the noise got louder and began to get closer. Then all
of the sudden all hell broke loose, and if you have heard it, you know
exactly what I am talking about. The pine sapplings began to snap and crash
like a truck was coming. I took off running and when I realized I was,
I figured I must surely have left my 6 year old
brother
behind. I looked over my left sholder and he wasn't there. I checked to
the right and he had out ran me.
Twenty-two
years have passed and I had never thought much about it again until I began
reading about BF. I realize now that what we heard that day was something
to have been scared of. This takes me to the current events that have been
taking place around my g.mom's.
My dad is a professional and well educated. He grew up spending time in the deep woods of East Texas and I have never seen him scared or even mention being scared of any thing. He and I were talking one day (in April I think)about the report I submitted to GCBRO in about March this year from Tx about the scream I heard and the recollections of my friend's cousins in Gilmer Tx. He said that he had seen the report/show that was on the Discovery channel about BF. This is all he had said. About a week later he said that he was awaken by the fifth house neighbor's hunting dogs going off. As he tried to go back to sleep, he heard an odd scream noise like nothing he had ever heard before and the hunting dogs shut up. I doubt the owner of the dogs made the noise, because the dogs bark a lot. Then about a week ago, I was at my g.mom's at night and my dad followed me out to get something out of my car. With a concerned chuckle I said I was glad that he followed me out because lately it scares the hell out of me to go out side there at night because it feels as though someone is just beyond sight in the dark watching (again, if you have felt it, you know what I am saying).
It was then that he chose to tell me about a night or two previous that as it got dark he was out in the yard walking to his tomato patch to see what no rain had done. When he was stopped by a real odd sound for that time of the evening. He said that it sounded like a bird's wistle. Not and owl or whipper-will (sp) but something different. He stated that it wasn't a sound he was familiar with and as he tried to focus his eyes on the area that he thought it came from, a tree got snapped. He immediately went inside.
I asked him a few questions about the incidences and he replied that there was no foul odor in the air and that the noise he heard that shut the dogs up wasn't a cougar (which he had seen one of a month or so prior walk out of the woods right next to the house). I think that Sabine County is a prime spot because of the thick national forests and the abundance of water in the area. however there are a lot of people who hunt the area and if I were a BF, I wouldn't want to be there during deer season. Until the next time I hear something. Peace and God be with.
