LOCATION:    Trinidad Texas, Navarro County
 
 

TERRAIN:     Field on the banks of the River
 
 

OBSERVED:      It was in the Summer of 1992.  I was mowing a 200 acre hay field for a ranch that I worked for.  This specific location was on the banks on the Trinity River.  It was mid day and the temperature that Summer was well into the triple digits.  I decided to take a break and got off my tractor and went down to get some relief from the sun in the shade of the trees on the river bank.

When I got there, I noticed that there was several large turtle shells, just torn in half and the insides eaten.  These were all fresh with the blood still wet on them.  I counted 24 halves which translates to 12 turtles in all.  These were not small turtles either, they were 12 inches or larger across the shell.  Right next to the shells was a huge butt-print in the dirt.  I was amazed at the size of this butt-print and at who would eat all those turtles and raw at that.  Much less have the strength to tear them in half seperating the top half from the bottom half such as they did.  While observing the scene, I got a very bad feeling of being watched, and then heard a low deep growl.  I looked around and did not see anything, but could still feel something watching me.  So considering the situation, I decided it best to get back to the tractor and finish mowing instead of hanging around this specific area any longer.

I was making a round and was about halfway back to the location on one of the straight aways when a sparkle caught my eye.  I looked at it and there was a creature standing at the edge of the field in the weeds, but near the woods and what really got me was the size of this thing.  The weeds only came up to its waist area.  I am 5'11" tall and they came up right in under my arm pits.  So this thing had to be huge to only have the weeds come up to its waist.  I continued to stare at it as I went along, knowing full well that as soon as I took my eyes off it, it would be gone.  As I got closer I could make out more detail on it.  It was covered in hair, but not thickly covered.  You could see the skin under the hair and the sparkle I seen was sweat on its skin that glistened in the sun.  The hair was between 1 1/2 - 2 inches long on the whole body and you could clearly see the defined muscle definition of its torso.  I can clearly remember the muscularly defined chest muscles.  The color of the creature was a light tan color and the skin was a darker color.  Also its head went to a small point.  I was trying to get a better look at its face when I  had to turn the corner, so I took my eyes off it and when I made the corner and looked back it was gone.  The closest I ever got to it was approximately 70 yards.

Other Notes:   (From Bobby Hamilton's Field Notes) I interviewed this witness face to face and found him to be very serious and straight forward in his beliefs.  I had no reason to doubt him or anything he said, as I felt he was a very truthful and honest person.  He had nothing to gain from telling me his story.  Other than to tell me that he had personally seen one over at this one specific location.  I gathered this report while doing an on site investigation of another sighting report that happened over in Henderson County.
