TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED:
My boys and I bought backpacking gear xmas of 2006 and wanted to use it.
I have been interested in the subject of bigfoot my whole life and have
attended twoTexas Conferences. I picked this area because of the sightings,
and the remoteness of the area. Never in my life, did I expect to actually
have any type of encounter. I entered this info into another web site right
after it happened, but I guess due to all the changes, they still have
not responded. My boys and I hiked into the Wilderness area, and found
a spot a ways off the trail, right after you cross the swampy area where
they are building a wooden boardwalk to cross. We set up camp probably
around noon or 1pm, messed around, gathered wood, and cooked dinner.
At dusk we were sitting around the fire, and started hearing the infamous
"whoop" identical to recordings I've heard. My oldest son and I looked
at each other not believing what we heard. These whoops were not far away,
there were at least two maybe there, and they went pretty much all night.
The boys saw one hunter in the area earlier that day, and that was it.
At the trail entrance there was a Texas A&M van, but we saw no one
else until the next day as we hiked out. We ran into one man doing a day
hike as we hiked out. I tried to find out if A&M might be doing some
type of investigations, because I thought we might of heard call blasting
(I doubt it though). I got hold of a professor( I can't remember his name)
who actually used to investigate sightings I think in Washington, however,
he said there were no A&M groups that did that. That's pretty much
all the info I have. They boys and I are going to backpack to the same
place again soon. I doubt if I'll hear anything again, but here's hoping.
