Follow-up report to sighting in Limestone County, Texas, by XXXXXX and family.

Upon arriving at the home of XXXXXXXX and his family in XXXXX, Texas, we proceeded to interview XXXXX, his wife, and daughter.  They told us of XXXXX's father's farm that is located approximately XXXX and a XXXX miles outside of town. They told us of some of the incidents they had witnessed and the strange happenings that were ongoing there.  They retold the story that was the subject of their original report.  They added that after they had encountered the creatures, they immediately became ill.  The daughter also related to us that she had seen a creature on that same night of June 23rd.

We proceeded to follow XXXXX and his family to the XXXXX family farm where his father, mother, and brother live.  XXXXX’s father is getting on in years and suffered a stroke approximately XXXXX years ago. Nonetheless, he appears to be rather physically fit for a man his age and is in total control of his mental functions.  He related stories to us about his encounters with "the boogers" on his farm and in the general area, as this is where he grew up as a child.  He told us a story as a young man of being challenged by one of the creatures and watching it uproot two small trees.  He also told us a story of himself and two other hunting buddies encountering a creature many years ago.  Mr. XXXXX suffered a stroke that has left his speech somewhat impaired upon encountering something in the woods behind his farmhouse that startled him. The members of the family report hearing strange noises and sounds in the woods behind the house for many years and they still continue to this day.

Mr. XXXXX is somewhat concerned about these creatures being on his property.  After speaking to us, he became glad to see us and relieved that we had come to investigate.  The senior Mr. XXXXX and other family members then offered to take us back on the property where the sightings and sounds occur.  Jim and I then began canvassing the property looking for signs.  As we moved through the woods, the family dogs were hunting, but they were hunting behind us and not out in front of us like you would expect.  We encountered trail markers and limb breaks.  Some were recent.  “Trailmark1" is a pile of limbs placed against a large bush and occurs entering a trail from the road in which XXXXX and his wife say the creatures they encountered on the night of June 23rd made their escape. Just up the trail appears to be a trail marker from a small uprooted cedar tree that is placed in the branches of another larger cedar tree.

Upon examining the woods behind the stock pond, Jim discovered a large animal den.  Upon advancing on the den, "something" escaped out the back side.  As Jim advanced further, two buzzards entered the den and began hissing at him.  The den itself had a strong reeking odor and there was a small dead snake inside on the floor.  “Den4" shows the inside of the den.  As Jim and I flanked the den, we proceeded to try and find signs of what had escaped.  I proceeded from the den to the fence line directly behind it.  There, I encountered what appeared to be a pile of small dead snakes that had either been regurgitated or passed as fecal matter by whatever escaped the den.  I was unable to positively identify the variety.   “Poop2" shows the pile.  I also encountered a limb break on a redthorne tree (“hibreak3") approximately 8 ft. off of the ground over the trail next to the fence line.  We then began to smell a foul stench similar to what we smelled in the den.  We then followed the origin of the stench.  We followed it up the fence line for a distance.  The family dogs were walking with us and appeared to be trailing something.  After a short distance, we spooked a buzzard out of a tree.  The underbrush was very hard to traverse at that point, and it is unclear whether we’re smelling the buzzard or some other animal.  We then returned to the vehicles.  The family was very hospitable and granted us permission to stay in the area after dark.  We then spoke to a ranch hand that came over to visit and worked on the farm next door.  He told us of a calf that was killed.  According to the neighbor, the local veterinarian had performed the autopsy and determined that the calves’ neck had been broken in two places and only his liver had been taken.  Nonetheless, they ruled the cause of death as a cougar even though no scratches or bite marks were found.  The XXXXX can verify the story because one of the sons actually saw the calf.

We proceeded to stay until well after dark with a few of the family members down in the woods by the pond.  The rest of the evening was uneventful aside from some unidentified eye shine high off of the ground that I encountered approximately 75 yds away on the other side of the pond while using night vision gear.

The area has a history of activity and this location has all the earmarks of being frequented by the creatures.  It would be helpful to try and establish a pattern of when the creatures appear and for what reason.  This area of Texas is known for its abundance of deer and other wild game. However, it is notable that even though there is a water source, at no time during the investigation did I see any indication of an abundance of deer, hogs, rabbits or raccoons.  I certainly didn’t see the frequency of animal sign that I would here in my location in East Texas.  Also, the family dogs never venture away from the house unless someone walks with them.  Even then, Mr. XXXXX reports that when the creatures are active, the dogs usually refuse to go anyway.  It would also appear that after sundown, the XXXXXs’ cattle spend the night up close to the house in the yard lights.

We hope to revisit this location and try to establish a pattern.
