REPORT RECEIVED From: The Field Research Notes of Bobby Hamilton
DATE:
Mid 1980's
TIME:
Morning
LOCATION:
Hardin County, Texas
TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED:
I was visiting some friends, that I hadn't seen in about 9 years and the
subject turned to what I was doing now, which is as I told them "In my
spare time, I hunt and research Bigfoot".
At this statement the wife without
missing a beat stated, "My mother saw one back in the mid 80's".
So after inquiring about this,
the story on it was that her mother and another lady had went to pick Mayhaw
Berries, which by the way are a well known Southern delicacy for some of
the best home made jelly. Anyway these berries actually grow on trees,
in damp wooded areas, that are not always easily gotten too. And
when gathering them it is always in areas where you got to really watch
for "Cottonmouth" snakes, due to the damp and wet areas these trees grow
in.
Anyway, the mother was accompanied
by another lady friend that morning and as they got closer into the area,
they both noticed something moving away from them just a short distance
ahead. What they seen was a light brown hair covered creature, that
was walking in an upright position and was better than 7 foot tall.
She said, it just walked away deeper into the woods, and they didn't feel
scared of it in anyway, so they went about gathering their berries and
then left.
Her mother is now deceased, so I
could not do the follow up on this report with her personally.
Activities of Witness:
Picking Mayhaw Berries
Description of Creature:
Walked upright, covered in light brown hair, stood over 7 foot tall.
Other Notes:
She also told me that the now defunct Kountze paper did a story within
a week or so of the incident of a lady that had seen one in the same general
area as the above encounter.
Additional Notes or Comments: Now the funny thing is, I was coming home from Beaumont one day and stopped in Kountze at the grocery store and was wearing my GCBRO shirt. The lady there at the check out counter looked at my shirt and said "Are you serious"? I said, "Yes, I hunt and research Bigfoot". She then told me of a lady in the mid 1980's who seen one down near one of the creeks and the local paper man had did a write up on it for their paper. She also gave me the name of the lady that the news article was about. And she also gave me the name of the man that was in charge of the now defunct local paper and he had been the one that interviewed the lady and did the write up on it. I am in the process of getting in touch with both of them to do a further follow up on this.
