OBSERVED:  When I was little, my dad used to work nights in the Conoco mines in Gillett. We lived in a double-wide. It wasn't long before my mother began hearing noises outside, and the dogs would bark all night. She
could hear something walking around. She believed it was after the dog food left out over night. Anyway, we wound up with a huge hand print on my parent's bedroom window.
We had game wardens come out and take pictures and stuff. (The area in which we live has a pretty good bit of woods around it.) Mom said she could hear it walk off down the dirt road shortly before daybreak.
My uncle also had an experience with one (also when I was little).
My grandmother lives across the creek from us. She was baby-sitting my brother and I one evening. My uncle walked up to our house to get something for her. He went in, retrieved the item, and came out of the house.
He said that the minute he shut the door, he heard a noise like a drunk man burp. He just froze. He said that he could then hear the creature walk on through the yard and down the dirt road. He lives in Washington state now. I will e-mail him and get more details on that incident.
Nevertheless, he walked back to my grandmother's house on the highway!

There is a church next to my parent's house. A few years after these experiences, they put up two security lights. My mother says that once they put up those lights, no more incidences occurred. I never had any experiences myself, except for possibly one.
When I was about nine or ten or so, I used to sleep with a night light on. I had curtains on my windows, but we left them pulled back. One night I was awakened by a noise. It sounded like something was "running" on the side of the house
by one of my windows. I was terrified (of course). I froze for quite a while, and the noise continued. Finally, I ran into my parent's room and woke up my mother. I told her about the noises and she told me that she had heard the same thing on the side of the house by her window also. She woke up my dad, who went outside with a gun to investigate, but found nothing. Needless to say, I was scared to go to sleep that night. I new that whatever it was, it was able to see me in my room with that night light on and the curtains open. That is the only thing that I ever experienced.
I'm not sure if it is anything as significant as that of the experiences of my mother and uncle?

When my brother and I were kids, we used to wander around in the woods for hours. (The back part of our property is heavily wooded and full of brush.) We never saw anything resembling a bigfoot, but I believe there was one around here at one time. Many other people in this area had sightings also. I can't remember any off hand. There was a woman who used to live here that collected information about sightings in the area. However, she moved to Alaska
several years ago.

One time when I was in high school, my parents and I had just come home from a late football game. I guess it was
about 11pm. We pulled up into the garage, and the minute we opened the van doors, this smell hit us. It smelled like an animal cage at the zoo.
I've been around a lot of wild animals -- my brother-in-laws do a lot of hunting (deer) and trapping (wild hogs). I've never smelled anything like that before. It was just a very different type of smell. Like I said before, my brother and I used to roam the woods when we were kids, and I never saw or smelled anything suspicious -- not like that -- before. A friend of mine knows someone who saw one while picking pecans down my the Guadalupe River. I'll have to get that full story from her again.

Uncles Letter of his Encounter, as sent to witness who contacted and forwarded it to me:

Many years ago when i was just a boy, i was walking from my house, which was the trailer that was in your mommas yard. But at the time, it was down at the old homestead. Back then there was a barb wire fence between your mamas house and the pump house. I was walking up the trail that used to be there about 10:00 or 11:00 at night. When i got about where your trailer is now, something took off out of the weeds and ran straight into the barbed wire fence. It got tangled up  for just a second and then it took off across the dirt road into the field. The next morning i went to investigate and found long brown, course hair in the wire and one fence post was broken off at the base. Im not sure because it was dark that night with no moon but i could swear the thing was running on two legs when it ran off. There used to be an old indian man that lived off the land out there. Me and JB called him Indio, ask JB about him, anyway, he later told me that my moms land was a holly place to his people because of the big hairy one. That is about all i can tell you, and good luck if he has come back.

Summary of Events Submitted to me from Witness:

Incident: December 1974, around 5 am. My dad had just left for work. My mom had Christmas lights in the window. Something outside was not happy with the lights in the window. She could hear a lot of noises (grunts, etc.). It also fooled with the door knob. She was, needless to say, very frightened.

Incident: Late 70s, early 80s. My dad worked nights out at the mines in Gillett. My mother would hear something outside from time to time. She believed it was after the dog food. One day she noticed an extremely large hand print on her bedroom window. A game warden was called out to look at it. He explained it as someone pulling a prank on her. However, she said there was no way the print could have been human. It was just too large. As more and more houses went up in our area, and more traffic flowed on the highway, the incidents quit occurring.

Incident: Not sure of the date, however, probably late 70s, early 80s. A man sees a huge hairy creature cross a fence by a creek on a dirt road west of Nixon. He explained it as just stepping over the fence.

Incident: Late 70s, early 80s. My dad's sister and her husband were returning home one night when they saw something big and hairy on the side of the road. This sighting was just about 3 miles from our house.

Incident: About 3-4 years ago. My friend's brother was picking pecans on a ranch between Gonzales and Ottine. He looked up and saw a big hairy creature watching them from a distance. They left the area quickly. (This was the incident I told you about which I thought occurred on the Guadalupe River).

Incident: Late 80s. A man, who lives in Smiley, went to his ranch in Gillett one day to look around. He saw a huge hairy creature in one of his fields. It scared him so bad that he would not return to the ranch alone for several years.
