OBSERVED: Recently at a family reunion I asked my cousin, who lives in a secluded spot in Morgan County, Tennessee, if she had ever seen evidence of Bigfoot. She replied, "No, but I think I heard him once." I asked her to write down her recollections; the following is her report:
"This was sometime in 1995. I don't remember whether it was summer or winter,
just that it was in the daytime. I was on the back porch, which faces several
square miles of woods. I heard a sound which seemed to come from over the
next hill, about 1/4 mile away. It began with three or four calls that
gave me a mental picture of some huge, prehistoric bird. It was like no
bird call I had ever heard, and there are certainly no birds around here
large enough to make such a sound. But the strangest part was the end of
the call. The call died away with a long, airy trumpeting sound that I
can describe only as the sound an elephant makes through its trunk. I stood
frozen to the spot, trying to figure out what it could have been, when
it came again. After the second call I decided to go into the house and
get my husband so he could hear it too. But while I was hesitating, afraid
I would miss another call, the sound came once more. I waited another minute
or two before I went inside but I didn't hear it again and never have since."
