PLEASE NOTE:   There has been a  lot of negative feedback from readers on this sighting report, therefore, ongoing investigations are still continuing.  Please read "OTHER NOTES" below.  Other reports in this area and field investigations have proven that there are many Bigfoot signs in this area.  Hopefully, in the future we will be able to verify its total accuracy.  Until proven otherwise, it will remain on the sighting report database.  The individual who reported this to me, I have talked to at length and found that he was very sincere in his report and could not think of any reason he might be lying to me about it.   He cautioned me strongly not to go into this area without a weapon.  I have visited the area and can confirm that there were Bigfoot sign in this place.   Thank you,  Mary Green.

INITIAL REPORT.

RECEIVED:  From  the Field Research Notes of Mary Green

DATE:         Spring, 1998

TIME:         None Given

LOCATION:  Tennessee.  Cumberland County
                   near Catoosa Wildlife Management Area

TERRAIN:    Old Growth Forests

OBSERVED:   As told to Mary Green:
(Witness name and location of sighting withheld due to current ongoing investigations.)
A hunter while out deer hunting reported to me that he came upon several bigfoot in the same area who appeared to be  feeding.  He was so amazed that they did not seem afraid of him, so he continued going back whenever he could to hunt deer and to see them.   He reports that he counted 15 at one time on one such occasion.  He described them to be on the average of 7 to 8 foot tall, dark brown in color, very human type faces.  They appeared quite well groomed, docile, intelligent and unafraid of him except for one large male who was very much different in appearance from the rest of them.  He reported there was one that appeared to be an adolescent and smaller than the rest, but no babies were seen at any time.  Also, one of them was taller, older looking and very gray in appearance that made sounds like garbled language to the others in some form or type of communication.

Over an extended period of time he took apples to them in the hopes that they would eat them and accept him.  On one of these occasions he reported that the male bigfoot that looked different from the rest, as its hair was shaggy, dirty, matted, and it looked less intelligent than the rest, more animal like in its features, suddenly charged him.  He was carrying a powerful rifle and shot it up in the air which stopped its charge and the Bigfoot retreated.  Immediately he then left the area on that occasion.

Days later, he finally thought that he would try a different tactic on the apples as the creatures always left  the apples untouched that  he left for them in his efforts to befriend them and get closer to them.  He decided to take a bite out of one of the apples  and then extended his arm to one with the bitten apple in his hand which the adolescent eventually came forward and accepted the apple and ate it.  He was successful then in feeding this same Bigfoot the apples as long as he first took a bite of one first which he found was pretty amazing in itself.  This was very near his home and one night the Bigfoot that had taken the apple knocked on the outside of his home and he went outside and determined that it might take another apple if he offered it to it.  He did so successfully, but only after he took a bite out of the apple before he offered it.  A few weeks later, the witness had to move out of the area due to his line of work.
 

Activities of Witness:  Deer Hunting

Description of Creature: Mostly dark brown, human type faces, hair shiny and well groomed,  one older gray male, one black with quite shaggy appearance  showing major aggressiveness.

Other Notes: Every effort was made to check out the reliability of this witness and I believe he is honest in his report.  He is a former military man and skilled in the use of weapons and a hunter since childhood.  I don't believe he has any reason to lie about what he experienced.

Field notes of Mary Green

About the time I had started a thorough investigation of this area a few months later I had to have some serious back surgery.  In May of 1999 myself and my son made a trip to this area to investigate all the information I received from this person in depth.
We spent an entire day in the area and located all the separate areas the eyewitnesses had related to me during my telephone interview with him early in February of 1999.  I had spoken to him and members of his family a few times who backed up his story before that date.  Once there, John and I located every area the eyewitness mentioned, including the place he lived at that time, but it was getting late when we came to the place where the eyewitnesses said he had fed the bigfoot the apple for the first time and we had a long drive home so we planned to come back again in a few days.  There were several teepee style territorial markers signifying to me that there were signs of bigfoot activity indeed in this area.  The later investigations never occurred as soon as we wanted them too because the impending back surgery was scheduled a bit earlier due to the urgency of my situation.

The area we had failed to check out in depth was going to require much more time and some driving in remote areas and it was already getting dark so we headed back home.  Still we drove into other areas of Cumberland County and portions of eastern Putnam County on the way home checking for other possible locations capable of being habitat for Bigfoot creatures.  We also investigated the area of the other bigfoot sighting this eyewitnesses reported to me where his daughter had been left alone in a disabled car when a bigfoot came up to her vehicle and pounded on the window.  I also interviewed his daughter by telephone. (another report in Cumberland County on the GCBRO database).  I found this place also where she related to me that a bigfoot had attacked her car as it was near a Golf Course closer in to Putnam County, TN.  It is possible that this golf course was in Putnam, I couldn't be sure.

Finally on March 13, 2001 I was able to go back to this sighting report area with my daughter, Susan Shelton.  We again located the entrance John and I had found before into the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area when we didn't have time in May of 1999 to do a thorough investigation.  We had not been there long when Susan located a swampy pond that was well hid from view.  There was a high ridge you had to climb up on in order to see down into the pond area.  All around the pond was thickets of pine and cedar and there looked to be only a small pathway that led out into an open field of tall grass nearly hip high that ran for several acres back into another wooded area.  I had gone off in another direction and she hollared at me to come see what she had found.  It took me a while to get through the tangle of branches where I could climb the high ridge in order to look down into where she was located.  She pointed at an area near the water line on the north side of the pond and said there was an extremely large  track there measuring about 16 inches long.  There was no way with the condition I am in that I could have climbed down there and then back up again, so I had her take all photographs that were taken.  She walked the entire perimeter of the pond and found numerous tracks, knuckle prints, but most of these were on the north side of the pond and near the path through the thicket that led into this field.

I must point out that there were NO cattle anywhere that could be seen as this was in a Wildlife Management Area.  Some deer tracks were seen in the woods but none were found near the pond.  A few bones of unkown type were also found in the woods.  Below is photographs of the tracks we found.  Two were excellent tracks but it was so marshy and wet it would have been impossible to cast them so we were foiled again!
