LOCATION:    West Salisbury, Pennsylvania, Somerset County

TERRAIN:       Wooded
 

OBSERVED:    Well to begin with me and my friend were out for a stroll on this
night in question.  I myself have been a believer for a long time but
nothing has scared me this much.

The area in question is a small town about 7 miles away from another town,
but only about 1 to 2 miles away is the highest point in PA, Mount
Davis.

There was three of us and we decided ot walk in the dark for
something to.  It was cold and somewhat lighted from the moon but we used
a three battery maglite and smaller flashlight to see.  We made our way
onto a road and continued to walk.  We got to a place were we saw
something in a tree so I shined the light over to the tree and found an
animal on a branch about 20 feet of the ground.

As soon as the light hit the animal it jumped out of the tree.  That's when we heard the growl.  It was a deep growl more so then a dog or bear and didn't sound very natural
to me or my friends.  We decided to head back to my house about a mile
away when I turned with the flash light I noticed a figure standing in the
middle of the road between the stop sign and the outer edge of the road
itself.  When the light hit it I said what the @#$% is that guys.

They both turned around to see a figure standing there dazed
by my light.  We are standing down the road about 500 feet.  My brother
proclaimed it to be a sign but i knew it wasn't because I could see the
signs clearly, but could not make out what I was seeing.  We decided to
get the heck out of there at that instance.  But when I started to back up
it started to move down the road toward us!  This scared the living @#$%
out of us and we ran.  I couldn't believe what I was seeing so i stopped
and told the others to keep walking and I would walk backward shining the
light to see if it was following us.

We were about 100 feet from a curve in the road and I watched for movement and then I seen it come around the curve and I lost it and we sprinted until we were about a half a mile away from it.  We continued home and I stopped at my bridge going to my house to see what it was.   I still couln't believe what i was seeing and watched
for about 10 minutes i didn't see anything but heard the same eerie growl and the dogs started to bark so I sprinted up the hill to my house.
 

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):    We were not drinking or smoking anything just walking around after about 11:00 at night.
 

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:  It seemed very tall for as far away as we were maybe about 7 and half feet tall and had a gray white color to it's fur.   It moved in quick
wide steps and moved a lengthy distance very quickly.  It seemed very
shaggy from my view, but i couldn't see eyes or facial expressions and it
didn't make a sound when i had the light on it.
 

OTHER NOTES:   The way it walked was with a hunch in it's back, but moved about 10
feet very quickly.  It didn't seem to growl until we scared the animal in
the tree out.  Possibly a meal for the creature.

HAD ANY OTHER STRANGE OCCURRENCES IN THIS AREA:   I haven't myself but someone else has.  My father said that the next day one of my neighbor's  had lost a cow and was found the next day dead and not much there.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA?:   There was a man three years ago who was hunting in the woods a good mile away thought he seen the same shape and color of beast.
