TIME:         7:45 pm

LOCATION:   Salem Mountain, Archbald Pennsylvania, Lackawanna County

TERRAIN:     Swampy.  It was a dense swamp.

OBSERVED:  A large crashing followed by a high pitched squeal.  Two deer ran from the brush and I dismissed the sounds as the deer.  A few minutes later the sound repeated and I saw a large, hairy, upright creature.  I estimate it to have stood close to seven feet and weigh close to 400 pounds.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES:   I was moving quietly through, scouting for archery season.

OTHER NOTES:   I ran to my car.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA:  None that I am aware of.
