DATE:  03/16/02

TIME:     Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon

LOCATION:   Cottage Grove, Oregon, Lane County

TERRAIN:      Wooded, old Bohemian mining town

OBSERVED:  We heard some very strange hooting sounds. They were very close and we had a video camera and got some on tape. They were to deep to be any bird and I have never heard anything like it and I'm a hunter. That was Thursday afternoon and then on Friday afternoon we heard them again in the same location. There would be a sound and then 20-30 secs later another for probably 5 mins. We went looking for it and then it stopped but when we got back to the truck it started again.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES:  We had just drove up the mountain and stopped for a pit stop and heard it and got the camera.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:
OTHER NOTES: It was very early in the season and that area had just became accessable by vehicle.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA: Yes, about a year and a half earlier I think and that's why we were in that area.
