DATE:     1940

TIME:     Daytime

LOCATION:   Jefferson County, New York

TERRAIN:    Other

OBSERVED:    This story was related to me by an old-timer who was in his 90s at the time. He didn't say what the date was but I would infer that it was when he was still a young man who spent most of his spare time in the woods. One day in fall he said that he saw two harry "monkey-like" animals across the lake the looked at him "like he might be good to eat". The sighting disturbed him so much that he related it to me when my father and i had broken down after we had been fishing for the weekend in the Wolf Lake State Forest. We needed a jump and the old fellow took to me and started to tell me some stories from his past. When we mentioned that we had been fishing at Wolf Lake, he remembered the story about seeing the [ostensible] bigfoots at that location all those years ago.

Activities of Witness:   I guess the old fellow had been hiking in the woods prior to seeing the two apparent primates looking him over.

Description of Creature:  Two "monkey-like" animals covered w dark hair one being quite a bit bigger than the other one.
