LOCATION:   Cheshire County, New Hampshire
 

TERRAIN:    Wooded with a stream on one side
 

OBSERVED:    I am telling this story on behalf of a friend. We never really thought to much of it until reading the story about the people hearing the screams on Dec. 23rd. Because he lives about a mile and a half from his job and walks this trail every day and night with no problem. However two nights now within a month have made him steer clear of the trail at night, and even during the day. On Jan. 12th roughly 9:30 pm he was walking and from his description he heard something slamming through the woods towards him. he stopped walking to check it out. He the told me he saw something waist high to him crouched down. "It sounded as if trees were getting knocked over" he told me. He didn't stick around to find out what it was. He said that he saw the black figure crouched down then when it crashed towards him he ran a good ways away and then stopped to see what the heck had bluff charged him. Bluff charging is something that bears do to keep you off there territory... however... bears usually don't crouch down or knock around trees like they are lincoln logs. That is his first encounter. The next encounter occurred last week on Valentines Day. I was driving home from a friends house when he called me on his cell phone from the trail. (probably for company because its dark and ever since that event he has been skeptical) but we continued to talk about random things; when the conversation stopped because on the other end of the phone i heard him stop walking, in the back ground of the phone i heard branches and all sorts of racket. I said "XXXXX" what the F*** was that? He said nothing all i heard him say was "What the F*** was that and i heard him running like it was no ones business. When he stopped running and caught his breathe i asked what it was. He told me the same thing. It was just dark enough not to see it this time, but the results were the same, big creature, obviously not happy.
 

Activities of Witness:   The circumstances were; that it was a short cut from work to home, and to stay off the busy streets of downtown which i am sure look inviting to him now.
 

Description of Creature:  From his description: Only glimpse was something waist high but down an incline hunched or crouched over. Heavily crashing through the woods.
