DATE: 04/23/02
TIME: Between 2:30-3:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Stokes County, Germanton, North Carolina
TERRAIN: Wooded
OBSERVED:
It
was late one night and my husband had stepped outside to smoke. He
called me to the door and asked me to listen to something. I heard
this sound- 3 hoots in a row (kind of like an owl) and before I could laugh
and say that's just an owl, there was an eerie monkey-like laugh (like
when monkeys in cages get very excited) that lasted about 2 seconds.
I was completely baffled. I heard it three more times after that.
It was very loud and clear and seemed very close. Each time we heard
it, it seemed to be moving away from us. I have never heard anything
like that before in my life and it gives you the kind of feeling that makes
your skin want to crawl off your body. My husband heard it twice
before calling me to listen. He had urinated in the grass prior to
hearing it.
You get the feeling in this area that you are being watched a lot at night. My mother heard the sound also a couple nights later. Also, my father and I have walked around some in the daylight and stumbled upon some strange things. There is some thick brush near the woods that we were looking in approximately 2 weeks before hearing the strange cries. There was a "turd" lying in the thick grass and brush, I didn't measure it but I am guessing it was about a foot long and 2 inches in diameter. It didn't look like bulk in it- it was mostly whitish grey fur. There was also an impression of an image (maybe where something had sat down) in the grass. It obviously had to be something heavy to leave an impression like that.
ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES: Smoking outdoors, urinating in the grass.

OTHER

it was foggy and humid (had rained earlier in the day) and approximately
