DATE:  June 3, 2001

TIME:  9:00 P.M.

LOCATION:  Cumberland County, North Carolina

TERRAIN:  Forested with creek bottom and 2 swamps
 

OBSERVED:   The week of June 3-11, 2001, my mom, sister, and I traveled to our home in North Carolina  for summer break. We have a few acres of land with forest that is pushed up against a natural creek bottom. The first week there, around 9:00 P.M. while the three of us sat on the backporch, we heard some unusual sounds coming from behind the trees 30 yards from where we were. It was pitchblack in that area of the yard and we could not see anything. Mom was born and raised on this property and could not identify the sounds. The next day, my nephew and I looked around the Creek Bottom and found some footprints and a bed made from trees.
 
 

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):   We were sitting on the backporch, which is actually located upstairs talking by candlelight. My mom and sister were smoking cigarettes.  Because of the surrounding trees on the property it was very dark, but it was a crisp night, temperatures in the 60's, with clear skies and moonlight.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   N/A

OTHER NOTES:   One morning my mom rose early and was reading a book in the sun room when she heard the sounds again.

The dogs around our house are always acting strange and freak out especially around dusk or dawn.

OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA:   A lady here in the neighborhood told me that her son saw a bigfoot when he was a teenager but is reluctant to talk about his experience. He refers to the sighting as a "Monkeyman"  I have tried to get him to talk to me but he has refused .
