LOCATION:  Ripley, Mississippi ,Tippah County,
Twin lakes Rd. Off Hwy. 4 behind american building

TERRAIN:  Swampy , there's a lake beside the wooded area and a field

OBSERVED:    Heavy footsteps coming out of the woods. Sounded like something being dragged through
the woods. When it got to edge of woods it stopped. I could see the outline of something approx. 7'5" to 8' tall, approx. 36" wide, and very dark hair or fur.  I could not  see it's eyes. As it eluded us, we would take 4 or 5 steps and it would do the same at the same time and stop when we would. we were in heavy undergrowth and it was extremely hard for us to move after it.  After we got out of the briars we stopped for a moment to try and locate it by sound and by shining our flashlight, we still could not see it.  As we started to move it bolted, when we
turned to see what it looked like, it was already going across the field, we could not see it but we heard it.  The trees by the fence which are about 6' apart had limbs about 7' to 8' up off the ground were moving as something had just shook the tree, both of them, it also had to jump the fence which we had to climb across.  When we got into the field we could see a path but nothing else.  Whatever it was, really laid the weeds down (the field has not been worked, so the grass was tall, about chest high).  We also felt it was watching us as we left the field.  We never saw its eyes, nor heard it breathe or grunt.  We were scratched from chest to ankles from the briars.

It acted like it was stalking us till we went after it, and showed Intelligence when it was making its escape.

Description of Creature:   Approx. 7'6" to 8', its hair was blacker than the night because the outline was really standing out to me.  Also the tree limbs it ran through was that tall. It had no smell I noticed, I could not see its eyes, from the outline and the sound of it walking and running it weighed approx. 400 to 500 pounds.

Activities of Witness:  On Detail with Sheriffs County Deputy  X (name withheld)  and I were on a detail, I was standing outside the vehicle
when I first heard it coming toward us.  When it got really loud, he cut the engine off and heard it too. Deputy X shined his flashlight and it went back into the woods. Deputy X could not see the outline of the thing because his eyes had not focused and when he cut on the light he was not sure were to shine it, but could hear it leaving. Deputy X said "Quote" "that Ann's no deer" and we tried to catch it but couldn't.  We got approx. 20' from it at one time but still couldn't see it.

Other Other Notes: This report was investigated by Rick Tullos our GCBRO Investigator from the area and here is his in field report as he was told by the  witness.

On 11-19-99 at approx. 6:00 pm Deputy X, another Agent with the North Ms.Narcotics, and myself were on a detail, we were doing our paper work. I was standing outside the vehicle and the other Two officers were in the vehicle talking, I heard a noise in the woods coming toward us, I stated to the others that something or someone was coming through the woods at us, They told me it was deer. I could notice it was still a little way off but was
coming at us. It kept getting louder so I told the others again but they still wouldn't listen so I turned around and walked about 10 feet from the Vehicle and took a leak. By then it had gotten really loud and I became really concerned, as I walked back to the Vehicle Deputy X had finally heard it to. As I looked to the tree line I could see a outline  of something really Big but I still wasn't thinking. The other Deputy took out his flashlight and
shined it into the woods but missed it by 15 or 20 foot. I said "that ain't no deer" and he said "it sure ain't." Deputy X exited the vehicle and we went to the edge of the woods about 20 to 30 feet from were I saw the outline, we could here it walking away from us in a half circle, (there is a barn and a house about 100 yards straight through the woods and it didn't want to go that way, it didn't seem). So being the inquiring minds we were we went after it still not thinking ( I thought I was seeing something else but not what I know It was now or I would not have gave chase so quickly). The area were we was is grown up in thorns and briars and is not somewhere any one would be walking at night, it is wooded and secluded and we have used it prior to this date. Anyway we chased it through the woods if you could call it that, we would take a few steps and it would do the same, it was approx. 50 feet away but we seem to be heading to the same point. as we came closer to the
noise we would shine the light around to see if we could see it or its eyes but could not.  We could hear it really close but still couldn't see it maybe because of the hollows. When it did get close to us it ran really fast, the ground kinda shook, and the tree limbs were shaking back and forth, we could tell it was about 7'6" to 8' tall because the limbs were over our heads. we ran after it and into a fence about 42" tall, it had to of jumped
over it cause we were running behind it. Probably not as close as we thought, as we entered the field it went into we could see the grass laid down (the Grass was waist to chest high) and we had a erie feeling we were being watched. we agreed it was not a deer , bear, or human, but it was on two legs. we went back to the vehicle with out further incident. (Attributes)  We did not see it in the light but the out line I saw would be approx. 7'6" to

(Additional_info)  The week before we were all there again, and we thought we were being watched because we heard something in the distance walking but we didn't think much of it.
