REPORT RECEIVED FromThe GCBRO Online Report Submission Form.

DATE:    September 2002

TIME:     Daytime

LOCATION:   Stone County, Mississippi

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    One of my survey crews was out cutting a new property line in a remote area.  Along the line they found an area where many small trees had been stripped clean of bark from the ground to 8'-10' high.  They were very puzzled about what could have done this, since the only thing known in this area that does things like this is deer, and that was far too high for a deer to reach. They even cut down a few of the saplings and brought them back to the office with them.  I have been an avid outdoors man all of my life, and could neither explain it nor have seen anything like it.  There are a few bears in the area, but I don't think this is something that bears do either.  They did not notice any tracks, but I'm not sure they looked for any either.  The ground was covered with pine straw.

I had forgotten about the incident until reading about something similar on this web site that had been attributed to a sasquatch.  This may not be, but may be worth investigating.  I still have the trees they cut down in under the porch of the office, and know the vicinity of the incident, but have had no reason to go back.
