DATE: May 1, 1976
TIME: 9:30 CDT
LOCATION: Mendenhall, Mississippi, Simpson County, Mississippi Hwy 13/Strong River, Wooded Area
TERRAIN:
River bottom/deciduous forest/significant backwater
OBSERVED:
Very large bipedal footprints coming from woods, crossing
mud bar
and
entering river. Large handprints and footprints observed on direct
opposite
bank emerging from river (Strong River between Mendenhall and
Pucket,
Ms.).
Description of Creature: Unknown creature left large tracks of hands and feet
Activities of Witness: hunting
Other
Notes: Separate
incident that occurred in 11/81, along with a hunting
friend,
in the same general area, I came upon three prints in the wet sand
along
a sandbar, one left heel print, a complete right foot and a left fore
foot.
What may make this report strange or even useless is that both feet
had
only three toes each. The complete right foot was approximately 15-20
inches
long and about 5-9 inches wide. I realize this is somewhat small
when
compareed to other reported tracks and there were not five toes, but
three,
but this is what I saw.
Other
Other Notes:
On the first occurrence the witness was my father and he was
fishing
as was myself, from a small boat in Strong River. On the second
occurrence,
my friend was hunting less than 50 yds away.
OTHER
OCCURRENCES: Yes, it appears so
but some are obvious campfire tales. I would
relate
all information I have gathered on this phenomena over the phone.
There
is too much to write here.
There
are two incidents that I am aware of that involved some
friends
of mine several years ago along the same stream that involved
unusual
sounds. This is interesting since the people that spoke of it to me
grew
up in the woods hunting and fishing their entire lives, as did myself,
and
are exceedingly accustomed to every possible sound the forest and swamp
can
make.
