RECEIVED: From the G.C.B.R.O. Web Site Submission Form

DATE:             05/04/01

TIME:            9:25 PM

LOCATION:  Mississippi, Lee County

TERRAIN:        Wooded

OBSERVED:    I by myself and was going northeast up the XXXXX  HWY, coming home
from a trip to XXXX, MS, and came to the XXXXXX XXXXXX.  It had been
reported to me by two GCBRO members that this was a probable hotspot for
bigfoot activity.  I had been there twice one night earlier in the week with
other investigators and hadn't seen or heard anything.  It was about 9:20pm
and I decided to pull into the overlook and see if there was any activity
going on.  The moon was shining bright and nearly full and was directly
overhead.

After getting out of my truck, I heard a drawn out mewing call coming from
the next hilltop about 125 yards to the north of me on the other side of a
primitive split rail fence.  About 20 feet on the other side of this fence
is a perfect teepee formation.  I couod tell that whatever was making the
call was moving from east to west.  After a pause of 4 or 5 seconds, there
was an answering call to the south of me, across the Trace, in some dense
hardwoods.  This answering call sounded sort of like a young boy talking
slowly in the woods at a distance.

I started to get a very strong and distinctive feeling that I was being
watched.  I also got a bad feeling that I was in danger from something to
the north of me, across that split rail fence.  I then heard an owl call
coming from downhill about 250 yards to the northeast of me.  I could tell
that the call was not a real owl.  In a few seconds, the call was repeated.
I decided to answer it and gave one owl hoot.

Then the feeling that I was in danger started getting much stronger.  At
that time I noticed that suddenly the woods all around me got dead silent.
No crickets or tree frogs or noise of ANY kind.  My attention was riveted to
that area north of me, across the split rail fence, but I couldn't see or
hear anything at all.  Because I was by myself and unarmed and the feeling
of danger was still getting stronger, I decided to leave the area
immediately.

I got in my truck, but before I could get it cranked, something threw a
large stick at me from the other side of the split rail fence.  The stick
hit my truck on the right rear fender with enough force that I felt and of
course heard the impact inside my truck and it put a dent in my fender.  I
cranked the truck and started to get the heck outta there.  As I was pulling
out of the parking area, by the light from my brake lights and tail lights,
I could see the stick, and it was about 2 1/2 feet long and about 3 inches
in diameter.
