OBSERVED:  It's been a while since I been there, but I know that you come out of the main town and travel east down 84 about 4 or 5 miles and take a right onto Rt. 2. There was once an Antique shop at the top of the road last time I was there back in 1987. My grandparents PO box was (is) 520 (might have been 519). The house was on the left of the road the mail box on the right. I'm not sure if the house and barn are still there are not. They have both been deceased about 12 years. My mother passed on 2 years ago.  Down the road (PO Box 521) once lived a friend. I've not seen him in 12 years either. He had told me when he was younger he and his sister had followed a trail from behind his house back into the woods there. They went a long way. He said suddenly they both got spooked about something. They turned around to return to the house. Something started to chase them. I think he told it me it was a "tall dark shaggy man". He never got a good look at it. My friend and his sis did not hang around to get a better look but fled home. Both refused to go back into those woods for years.

Funny thing is, those same woods were across from my grandparents place just a different part of them (its been 12 years, I'm not sure they are even still there), and I always got a funny feeling about them even before I heard that story. I did not like being close to them especially at night. Even when I was older I would not get real close to them at night. I did not even like going outside in my grandparents yard at night or looking out windows. I did my best to cover them. I always had a funny feeling about those woods across the road..........

Other Notes:  Upon posting this report I was contacted by an associate of the GCBRO.  I was informed about many different aspects of this area.  Here is the information I received on this area.

I just read the Mississippi sighting in your new section. The poster also sent that story to me. It's very interesting to me because I grew up in that area, in fact the "other side" of those woods stopped at my house in Ellisville. That particular tract of land was owned by Dick Anderson, the Mayor of Ellisville.

When I was a kid my father and I used to coon hunt back in those woods.  Anyway, this is a large tract of land with the Tallahalle creek running right through it. Bigfoot would have ample food & fish to choose from.

One thing about Tallahalle creek is that Masonite used to dump waste into it so no one goes to fish that creek anymore. I don't know if this would affect bigfoot (the waste). One thing is, these days those woods are almost devoid of any human activity. No one hunts much in there and no one will fish the creek.  It's pretty grown up in there now.

A friend and I were there last summer (went to find an isolated place to play paint ball) and noticed it's very thick in there.  One of my old neighbors had a tree stand up near the edge of the section we were in, I don't know if he actually gets any deer there or just uses it for practice.

Further up and to the south there is a guy that feeds the deer in those woods.
But the section this report comes from is on the other side of the creek, and much further out towards Laurel. You'd have to drive around this area to see how big the woods are, from Laurel through the Myrick community, Tuckers crossing and down through Elisville. These woods are big but not a part of Desota national Forest.
The area he is describing is in Tuckers Crossing.  These are the same woods that back in '73 I wouldn't go into for a year after seeing The Legend of Boggy Creek. Hehehehe

Kinda spooky to think that there may actually be a bigfoot in there.  I always suspected it but I assumed it was just my fear instilled from that movie.  There have been a few black panthers seen in there, but those sightings are pretty common. I read somewhere that the Black Panther is supposed to be a crypto-animal. That's BS, I've seen a Black panther in these woods... no big deal.

To give you an idea of how big these woods are, back in the 70's a small plane crashed in these woods. I heard the guy got out of it but to this day no one can find the airplane. My friends and I as kids often went searching for it back in there.  You could easily enter these woods in Laurel and walk to the spur line in Ellisville without ever leaving the woods or crossing anyone's property.
