TIME: Late at Night
 

LOCATION:  Pearlington, MS, Hancock County.  Near the Pearl River
 

TERRAIN:  Wooded

OBSERVED: The witness was a young girl at the time of the sighting, but she remembers it clearly. I knew her for several years and have no reason to believe that she was telling anything but the truth.

She and one of her siblings were asleep in their bedroom which was on the second floor of their home. She remembers that, though it was summer time, the windows of the house were open, so it must have been a cool night.
Her grandfather's dogs (I assume hunting dogs) were kept in a pen in the back yard and they began barking wildly. It was enough of a fuss to wake the witness and one of her siblings. They went to the bedroom window to see what the commotion was about.

She looked out into the yard which was lit by outdoor lights. (I asked why they were on and she stated that it was normal routine for her family to leave the outdoor lights on at night) Out toward the edge of the wooded area she saw nothing, but then heard a chewing/slurping sound from near the house. She looked down to where her grandparents' vegetable garden was and saw what she for a moment thought was a man squatted down by a row of tomato bushes eating the from the plants. It was only about 20 feet from the house and she soon realized that it was covered in shaggy fur which was dark brown in color. She screamed when she saw it as did her sister when she looked down to see it. The creature looked up at them and she noted that the face was visible and the eyes reflected the light with a silver/white tint. It didn't rise, nor did it stop eating.

By now the noise from both outside and inside had the entire household awake and the witness' grandfather (shotgun in hand) went to the side door and out into the yard. She was still watching from the window when she saw the creature stand up on two feet and run across the yard and into the tree line toward the river.

Her grandfather saw the same thing as he stepped out into the yard. It moved very fast and the witness states that it was larger than any person that she had ever seen. (She provided no better description as far as size of the creature is concerned)

In the daylight the next day they found a few  footprints in the garden where the creature had walked on the bare dirt.
Nothing more was found and she doesn't remember her grandparents making much of a fuss over it after that night.
 

 
Activities of Witness:  All witnesses were asleep in their bedrooms and had followed their normal routine during the evening.
 
 

Description of Creature: Dark brown shaggy fur, stood and ran on 2 feet.  Eyes reflected silver/white in the light.  Very fast and larger than any person, they had ever seen.
