DATE:    1/29/12

TIME:     3:00 pm

LOCATION:   Franklin County, Mississippi

TERRAIN:    National Forest

OBSERVED:    Near a pond, I found large (guessing 15 inches long), wide, three-toed footprints leading from the tree line to the bank and back into the tree line. Whatever made them appears to have been flat-footed, not much of an arch.

Additional Info:    N/A

Activities of Witness:    I was quail hunting

Description of Creature:  I didn't see any animal or person around.

Other Notes:    About three weeks ago, I was checking on a food plot for deer on private land that borders the national forest. The drum that holds the corn is on a steel stand with a brace that holds it in place, some seven feet off of the ground. When I arrived, the drum was off of the its stand and looked as if the drum, which weighs 500 pounds with corn in it, had been thrown around. I could find no places on the ground where it had been rolled or pushed. We have Black Bears around this area but I'm not sure they could get the drum off of the stand without it hitting the ground around the stand.

This may not have anything to do with the footprints.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    N/A
