DATE: 1992
TIME: Approx. 11:00 PM
LOCATION:
Stewart, Mississippi, Choctaw County
TERRAIN:
Open area / Roadway
OBSERVED:
I
was slowing to make a turn and as my headlights started towards the new
direction, I noticed a tall hairy "creature" crossing the road about 75
yards away. It didn't take but just a second and the "creature" stepped
up the pace and was out of my view. I would have normally took it as being
a bear, but this "creature" stood at least 7' tall and walked with only
two feet and only what I could descrie as being a hunchback.
I was only 18 at the time and not what you would call a thrill seeker. I sped through the area he/or she had crossed and headed on home.
ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES: I had been to a car race about 20 miles away.
DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE: Approx. 7' tall, hairy, dark in color, walked on two feet, had a hunchback,
OTHER
NOTES:
OTHER SIGHTINGS IN THIS AREA: I had heard of a similar report just a couple miles from where I saw this creature. Same description, only an older gentleman had seen it and it was during the daytime hours. He never told anyone about it until he was hospitalized with a stroke. When I told my father about my encounter, he told me that it was likely a bear and the darkness was playing tricks with my eyes. A couple of hours later, he told me that he had seen one as a child in the same area and that reports of such a "creature" were popular in the Choctaw/Montgomery county area during the 1960s.
