TERRAIN:    miles of rolling hills, pastures, creeks and woods
 

OBSERVED:    I was about 11 years old and staying with my grandparents for the night.  They lived on a small farm in the Ozark mountains.  It was the dead of winter and I remember an unusually heavy snow had fell the day before. It was about 2 or 3 in the afternoon and would be getting dark soon.
Their home sit at the base a of wooded hill. I was outside caring in more firewood for the night. I had an arm full of split fire wood and was heading back into the front porch when something up the hill caught my eye. About 100 yards or so diagonal up the hill from the
house stood something. I stopped walking to get a better look. It appeared to be a tall dark creature walking slowly up the hill, as if it was stalking something. When the image of what I was looking at finally soaked in, I dropped the wood and froze staring at it. It looked over its left shoulder at me for maybe 3 to 5 seconds, that seemed like forever, then took off in a slow run up over the ridge. At the same time I was making tracks for the front door of the house. I did not go back outside till the next day and that was to jump in Mom's car and get out of there. I lived in that area for another 12 years or so and never saw anything like it again. Nor did I ever tell anyone about my experience.

Activities of Witness:   carrying in firewood for the night.
 

Description of Creature:  an upright human looking creature, walking on its feet, about 7 feet tall or so, dark brown hair covered except for its face and inside of hands. I believe seeing the movement of its hand swinging is what caught my eye. Was too far away and too long ago to make out any real facial features. Had a long graceful stride when running.

Other Notes:    I have heard stories from my Grandparents and the hills people of Bigfoot that use to run the hills, but none can remember it being spotted there in recent times.

There are rumors and stories of bigfoots roaming the Ozark hills around late 1800's, but no specific stories I know of off hand.
