REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO Online Report Submission Form

DATE:  1981-82

TIME:  Mid-day

LOCATION:    Cass County,  Missouri

TERRAIN:   Wooded out to 15 yds from the tracks then corn field

OBSERVED:   I have a couple of things to report.  During the fall of 81 or 82 I believe, I was hunting with a buddy of mine out west of town just about 1 mile or so.  We had walked from town and were down a set of no longer used railroad tracks.  We were pretty much shooting any bird that happen to fly over at the time(we were after all only about 16 or so).  We were probably about 3 miles or so down this set of tracks moving north away from town.  Just around the bend that we had passed we saw something laying on the tracks in front of us.  As we got closer we noticed it was a piece of rail laying there.  We walked up to it and tried to move it we could
but only with the both of us trying to.  This rail was about 8 ft long or so and very heavy.
At the time both my buddy and I were pretty big boys about 5'10 to 6'ft and it took both of us to move it around.  That is when i noticed the print in the dirt between the tracks.  I was wearing a hunting boot size 12 and when i placed my foot in the track there was about 3 inches extra on the toes  2-3 inches on the heel and 1.5 to
2 inches on either side of the foot.  The print was a bare foot 5 toes with no signs of claws or anything.  That is when we noticed the trail made in the rocks.  The railroad tracks in that area go through the bottoms near a creek and have to be placed on rock that is about 15 ft high stacked on the ground at about a 40 degree angle or so.  What ever had moved this large RATHER HEAVY piece of rail had done so either one handed pulling it up beside it while it was walking up this incline or usuing 2 hands, either way the rail had left a furrow in the loose rock about 2 inches deep  and you could see where something had stepped in the rocks  although there
were no prints, you could tell where something had stepped.  Whether or not it had heard us approach since we were shooting and being rather loud and dropped the rail or not The rail was laying across the tracks.  Seeing the strength involved in moving this rail we decided that we needed to leave.  We walked back to back for
the entire 3 miles until we were in the clear once again..  That is all for that story but about 2-3 weeks later a different buddy of mine(buddy #2) had run away from home and myself and buddy #3 went out to look for him  #2 lived out the way of the railroad tracks and i really wasnt thinking much of it until we crossed the tracks.  There just enjoying this beautiful fall day walked this creature moving away from us, with by all accounts not a care in the world.  I saw it but the driver(buddy 3 did not.  When he had reached the bottom of the hill after
crossing the tracks i told him to stop and back up which he did.  We sat in this car and watched this creature for a few seconds when i opened the door to stand and get a better look. #3 did this also but hit the horn with his hand as he got out of the car.  The noise caused the BF to spin around and upon sighting us he dropped flat to the ground.  I dont know how far apart the rails of a track are but i do know that it FILLED the rails with its shoulders.  Also if i were to lay flat on the ground i would be about 12-13 inches thick from my back to my chest.  This thing was very easily 3 times that although it was about 200 ft or so away you could see that it was considerably higher than the rails rising from the rail road ties.  We watched it for a few seconds when it stood up.  Now in the act of standing it took a step towards us and that is all it took for us to leave quickly.  We came
back in to town and got my binoculars and went back out, but didnt see anything from the car sitting on the road(because i sure as hell wasnt going to get out).  As for what we saw i would say  that it was between 7'-8' tall and possibly 400 lbs as i am now 6'5 230. It was dark brown and shaggy haired  I couldnt see any genatailia(sp) so we dont know if it was male or female. The head seemed to rest on the shoulders or there was a VERY broad and well muscled neck holding it up.

Description of Creature:   7'-8' tall and possibly 400 lbs as i am now 6'5 230. It was dark brown and shaggy haired  I couldnt see any genatailia(sp) so we dont know if it was male or female. The head seemed to rest on the shoulders or there was a VERY broad and well muscled neck holding it up.

Activities of Witness:   In the first event we were hunting and in the second we were actively searching for a
runaway friend

Other Notes:  Yes there has been several over the years and during that time frame there was quite a few active reports going on but we(the town) were told that the sightings were in the woods east of town  which is the reason we were hunting in the woods west of town.  But we came to find out that the newspaper reported it incorrectly as to keep the curiosity seekers out of the west woods.  Had we known that we would NOT have been there.  Several years earlier my sister had something very large chase her through the cornfields in that area that surround the rail road tracks  some friends of hers through rocks at it because all they could see was the outline of a head standing above the 7 ft corn stalks and they thought it was 2 kids playing tricks on them.  one hit it with a rock and it screamed and turned and took out 3 or 4 rows of corn when it ran.  I know of several other reports first hand that i havent told here just because my hands are getting tired from typing.

Other Other Notes:  This report was assigned to GCBRO researcher Rick Tullos for a follow up.  We will post his follow up investigation as soon as he gets it completed.
