Report
Received From: The GCBRO Online
Report Submission Form.
DATE:
10/15/90
TIME:
Mid-day
LOCATION:
Minnesota, Lake Of The Woods County
TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED:
We have hunted in the area for 10 or so years, and we were scouting some
areas for the up coming deer season while hunting ruffed grouse. In an
area that was very dense but walk able we found what looked like a bed.
It was fashioned from long grass and heaped in an oval shape about 20 inches
in height, and maybe 4 feet across the short way and 5 feet across the
long way. We looked at it for a while, and didn't see anything else out
of the ordinary. But the dog we had along was acting up and avoided
the "nest". There was some talk among us about what it was, the other guys
wrote it off as a bear den or something an animal made, but I have been
skeptical about it for years. The grass used to make this was brought
in from a distance, I don't know what animal would do that. When I looked
at your web site I saw another possibility of what could have created the
"nest".
This area of Minnesota is vast
and densely wooded.
Activities of Witness:
Hunting and scouting, which is probably why this was found, because no-one
else would have a reason to go back into that area.
