REPORT RECEIVED From: The GCBRO Online Reports Submission page.
DATE: 11/01/02
TIME:
9:00 pm - 5:00 am
LOCATION:
Michigan, Wexford County
TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED:
My wife and I drove
in from hwy XX on a "two track" into the
manistee
national forest. I had worked all night and took a nap shortly
after
camp was made. I awoke and my wife made dinner. We had forgotten a
piece
to our propane stove so she had to cook our steaks over an open fire.
Shortly
after the food was done, it was appx. 2100 hrs and getting very
dark.
We began hearing strange noises that seemed to come from all around
us.
My wife and I both grew up in the woods and know all animals native to
Michigan
and whatever made this noise, was not like ANYTHING either of us
had
ever heard before. It began coming closer and i told my wife to come
into
the tent. Whatever it was, came into our camp site and walked all
around
our tent. This whole time it kept making this un godly noise. At this
point
it was also deafening it was so loud. I tried to look out through the
tent
but could only see shadows. It was so heavy that it was actually making
foot
step sounds in the mossy leaf litter in which we had made camp. There
was
sounds of an EXTREMELY heavy animal breaking LARGE branches. There is
more
but I really don't want to relive all of it at this time.
