DATE:           03/17/02

TIME:         Around ten or eleven

LOCATION:    Just outide of Indian River, Michigan, United States.
                              Mullet Lake or the Pigeon Bay, Cheboygan County

TERRAIN:         It is heavily wooded and slightly swampy and hilly

OBSERVED:    I was by myself at my families property outside of Indian River. I decided to go for a walk down by our "fort" it was on the other side of the river which is heavily wooded and there is a swamp about fifty yards away from the Little Pigeon River. The ground was covered with snow and I had seen some strange footprints, they looked like a big person was walking barefoot. I thought it had been my grandpa, but I wondered why he would have come down the hill barefoot in the snow, then I thought my little brother who always liked to play tricks on me. So I kept on walking. Soon I felt like something was watching me and I swear I smelled a skunk or something very similar. But when I looked I didn't see anything. I kept walking and I saw something larger then me dart across an opening on the other side of the river. I got a little scared; the thing was at least six feet tall and had blackish brown hair covering it. My aunt had always told me she had seen something down here but I never believed her. I turned around and began to walk very quickly for the path leading up the hill back to the Cabin. The thing also turned and began to follow me, only it was on the other side of the river, which is only about ten or fifteen feet across. I could see it clearly now, it was six feet tall, heavily built, had black, intelligent eyes and claws like a bears. It made the strangest sound ever and I swear that my heart stopped, it sound like a little kid screaming. Then I heard a crashing sound from behind the other creature and I ran flat-out up the hill. The thing didn't follow me. Of course my family didn't believe me and I never got a picture of it or the footprints because when we went back down the footprints were gone!

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESSES:  Simply taking a walk through the forest. Well, I did accidentally scare up a partridge beforehand.

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   It was six feet tall, heavily built, had black, intelligent eyes and claws like a bears. Had blackish brown hair covering it.
OTHER NOTES:  My Aunt Jill says she saw one when we first came here five years ago.
