DATE:  July 21, 1973

TIME:    Dusk (about 8:30 P.M.)

LOCATION:  Maryland, Harford County

TERRAIN:   Wooded

OBSERVED:   I was returning from my piece of property riding my motorcycle when I observed a large dark hairy creature crossing a open field and walk out into the road in front of me and turned and looked at me(more of a lope stride than a walk). The distance was about 400 yards, it then went up a small hill into the woods. I got a cold chill and the hair stood up on the back of my neck. I pulled off on the side of the road and walked over and started to walk up the hill , but as it was starting to get dark I thought better of it as I had an uneasy feeling, I decided to get out of there.  I returned the next day to see where the creature had gone to and went up the hill and into the woods and saw that it was an old apple orchard in there. I then departed the area and never gave it any more thought until a couple of years later when I moved up to my property after I built a house on it.

After living there about two years we had an extremely cold and snowy winter when the reports of manly large tracks started showing up on a farm down on XXXX Rd. several nights in a row and it got in the chicken coop and got some chickens.I never heard of any more sightings around there after that winter.

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS(ES):  Returning from a property owned in the area at dusk

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:   I am not sure about the heigth but would guess it to be between 7and 8 feet. It had broad shoulders , it was dark brown and hairy and what got me was the way it walked, it was a free flowing lope type of gait, I have never seen anything, man or beast that walked that way.

OTHER NOTES:  Several large footprint sightings in the area over a couple of years and then nothing.
