TIME:
Late Afternoon
LOCATION:
VERNON PARISH, LOUISIANA
TERRAIN:
CUT-OVER LAND W/SURROUNDING WOODS & HEAVY THICKETS, HILLY W/ SEVERAL
SEASONAL CREEKS. FEW NEIGHBORS AND BUSINESSES IN SURROUNDING AREA
OBSERVED:
I WAS WORKING ON THE HOUSE WE WERE BUILDING AND IT WAS LATE AFTERNOON JUST
BEFORE DARK. I WAS IN THE HOUSE WORKING & BEING QUIET, WHEN I HEARD
A STRANGE WHISTLE OUTSIDE. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD COME UP, SO I WALKED OUT
ONTO THE PORCH. NO ONE WAS AROUND & I COULD HERE TRAFFIC ON THE HWY
SO I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ECHO. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED
LIKE A GRUNTING SOUND COMING FROM THE CUT-OVER BEHIND THE HOUSE. BY NOW
THE SUN WAS DOWN & IT WAS HARD TO SEE INTO THE CUT-OVER. I WAITED SEVERAL
MINUTES BUT HEARD NOTHING ELSE. I WENT BACK TO WHAT I WAS DOING IN THE
HOUSE. NOW UNDERSTAND I DON'T GET SPOOKED EASILY. I SPENT 8
YRS. IN THE NAVY 5 OF WHICH WITH SEALS, BUT FOR SOME REASON I GOT A REAL
UNEASY FEELING. I COULDN'T SEE MORE THAN A FEW FEET OUTSIDE. (NO EXTERIOR
LIGHTS AT THAT TIME). ALL I KNOW IS THAT I FELT THAT SOMEONE/SOMETHING
WAS IN THE DARK WATCHING THE HOUSE. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF NOT
BEING ABLE TO SHACK THIS FEELING I WALK OUTSIDE & SAT ON THE PORCH.
MAYBE I WAS TRYING TO LET WHATEVER IT WAS THAT I WASN'T AFRAID. THERE WAS
NO ODOR OR SOUNDS TO BE HEARD. ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES LATER THE FEELING WENT
AWAY. AT THIS TIME I GOT IN MY TRUCK & WENT HOME.

Other
Notes: DURING THE LAST
WEEK BEFORE DEER SEASON OPENED (10-21-2006), MY GIRLFRIEND'S SON &
I WERE PUTTING OUT DEER STANDS. HE CLIMBED UP HIS STAND (12") TO SECURE
IT & NOTICED THAT ALONG THE SHOOTING LANE WE'D BUSH HOGGED EARLIER
THAT SUMMER, THERE WERE SEVERAL TREE LIMBS BROKEN 7-10" OFF THE GROUND.
THIS IS THE SAME CUT-OVER THAT'S BEHIND THE HOUSE
