TIME:     3:00 am

LOCATION:   St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana

TERRAIN:    In wooded area off  Pearl river

OBSERVED:    This is probably nothing. A friend and I were camping in Honey Island Swamp.  We took our fishing boat looking for a place to set up our tent in the WMA.  We found a spot open enough to set up our tent.  About 3 am we were awaken to very heavy footsteps.  Whatever it what went completely around our campsite before leaving.  I took my flashlight and scanned the area right afterwards but saw nothing.  We found no  tracks, but the thick forest substrate would not have shown anything.  Whatever it was, it was not a person.  No other people were nearby.  It may have been a bear or possibly a panther.
