DATE:
January 2004
TIME:
11:45 pm
LOCATION:
St. Martin Parish Louisiana
TERRAIN:
Swampy
OBSERVED:
A group of five young men were sitting on the porch of a camp located on
a large bayou on XXXXXX rd. enjoying the evening hours. As
the night continued, fog began to roll in from the bayou waters and into
the swamp located across the shell road from the camp. Another hour
or so
later, all individuals stated that
they felt like they were being watched by someone, and had feelings of
anxiety and nervousness. They walked together to the shell road and
observed the swamp area which was black from very little, if no moon light
at all. As they shined a light into the swamp, they observed what
they described as a reflection or very small lights in the swamp.
Not being able to determine the color, they began to walk down the shell
road, when they noticed that when they shined their lights into
the swamp, the lights were following
them from a distance. As they would stop to shine their light, so
would the reflections in the fog. They advised that the lights were
close together always and seemed to be eyes of some kind. The witness's
stated that they could here something walking in the swamp waters approximately
50 yards into the swamp. Two of the individuals became so nervous,
they decided to get their vehicle and head back home. They were followed
by the others in another vehicle. The second
car decided to stop just a few
yards down from the camp and walk the shell road to see if anything was
still there. The occupants of the front vehicle waited for them as
they did not want to get out of the car. A very short time later,
all three witnesses came running back to the vehicle shouting and crying.
One individual had left his tennis shoes and was running in his bare feet
on the shells. From the tail lights they could see a set of glowing
eyes coming from the swamp onto the roadway at a distance. All witnesses
fled the area in their vehicles. Once back home, the parents of the
witnesses stated that they were all badly shaken and a couple were crying
out right! A report was filed with a deputy sheriff who was in the
area. Two boys refused to
go back to the area at night.
Activities of Witness:
Were sitting in and around the front porch of a bayou side camp, playing
music and talking.
Description of Creature:
Two lights, reflecting their spot lights. They advised that they
were close together and could have been a pair of eyes watching them.
Other Notes: When recounting their event, they stated that they could hear breaking limbs from the swamp.
Two days later, two of the witnesses
and a third individual went back to the area and walked an oak ridge that
heads out into the swamp approximately 1/2 mile. As they were about
300 yards from the shell road, at sunset, they all heard a very low and
sustained growl coming from a thicket 50 to 75 yards away. They also
heard the breaking of several tree limbs, but could see nothing.
They turned and fled very fast!
Two weeks later, the brother of
one of the witnesses was at the same camp with his friends. Late
in the evening, they would yell into the swamp, mocking the events that
were reported by the younger brother and his friends. They continued
for several minutes and after all persons quieted down and were talking,
they reported what they described as a very intense scream come from the
swamp area. They became very afraid and stopped talking completely.
A short while later, they described a knocking sound coming
from very far back in the swamp.
One described the knocking as metal on wood, the others stated it could
have been hard wood on wood. Several knocks were heard a few seconds
apart and then they stopped all together.
Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments: All above information was obtained from direct contact while interviewing the eye witnesses involved.
