REPORT RECEIVED: From the GCBRO field report notes of Rick Tullos.  "THE BIG HUNT"

DATE:  01/16/00

LOCATION:  NW Louisiana, Location withheld due to ongoing investigations by the GCBRO

TERRAIN:   Wooded, with Creek Bottoms .

OBSERVED:  One of several field reports from "THE BIG HUNT" hosted for GCBRO members beginning the week of January 15, 2000, and lasting until January 25,2000.


Walking through the area finding Numerous footprints, a rabbit kill with fecal sample deposited therein, Bobby and Dennis went back to cast one of the tracks that the group had found about an hour later and found a fresh stool sample within 6 feet of the track that had not been there previously in that i had videotaped the track find and found no stool in the frames, we also found a 19 and a 22 inch track, but they weren't in a good castable condition, also Monster Hunter took us on a tour of the bottom land and showed us some tree markers and bed down areas that the monsters had used and some bent over trees that were between 2 and 3 inches in
diameter and 12 to 15 feet in height, he showed us where he had established feed plots on the land and most of the sign we found was in a 200 to 300 foot radius of the feed plots, later that night we set up camp in a field on the property and during the night we heard several whistle like calls, which didn't sound particularly like bird calls!

Also something started howling and getting the local coyotes REALLY stirred up but the initial howl didn't sound like any dog i have ever heard.

The second day Dan and Wade returned to camp as they had setup in sniper positions in the bottoms during the first night they reported that hadn't seen much but they heard something walking just out of range of their night scopes later on in that day Bobby Dennis and I returned to cast some tracks that we had found the first day and we found a few more than we had seen previously, also we made cast of  what appeared to be a knuckle track containing 3 fingers and a thumb, so we cast them ,walked back out to the road (this was in the bottoms where Bushman and Dan had setup position,) and cast another track, while Bobby was waiting on the cast to dry i walked down the road about 100-150 feet and i heard a short scream type sound, i motioned for Bobby to come closer and asked him if he had heard it but he said no, we returned to camp and moved back up to the metal building where we had attempted to sleep saturday morning and set up base camp there that afternoon Bigfoot Buddy arrived and we showed him an area where he agreed to set up a shooting position on the edge of the field where we had camped the previous night,  this was a very good decision, later on that night we heard him call on the radio for extraction around midnight so we asked him if he had seen or heard anything he said "2",  we said "What?", he explained that while he was there he heard a sound like a man walking down the road, but a lot heavier, near the fence line when he tried to turn around to see what it was his stand creaked so the thing heard it and stopped but did not immediately flee the scene, slowly eased in to the wood line to the left of BB's stand and started making a chirping noise and then to the right of his stand on the opposite side of the field another one chirped back, this went on for a while then faded.

The third day Stan and I had to head back home so this is pretty much all except to say that I was amazed at how professionally done this event was and i met some great guys and am eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to have another hunt like this, and although no specimen was yielded a huge database of new information was so for these reasons alone i feel the BIG HUNT was a HUGE SUCCESS.
