LOCATION:   Iberia Parish, Louisiana
 

TERRAIN:    Other, industrial area with small wooded patches nearby.
 

OBSERVED:    As i traveled north on la 674, i saw a large creature crossing the road, taking long steps and swinging its arms.  i was about 100 yards away and the creature crossed in an area where there was light behind it so that i saw a silhouette of the creature.  i tried to illuminate the object with my high beams, but it was too far away.  i quickly accellated to the area where the creature crossed the road, but my spot light could not illuminate anything were it went into the woods and there were no footprints as the shoulder was gravel. my estimate is that the creature was 7 to 8 ft tall and very heavy, maybe 500 to 600 lbs. it looked like the classic movie of the bigfoot in the woods taken in about 1959.    
 

ADDITIONAL THINGS:  I was a security officer for the research center at the time of the sighting and though there were primates on the property, there were none this large and i would have been notified of any which had escaped.  there was no report of any animals having escaped the next day or any time thereafter.
 

DESCRIPTION OF CREATURE:  It walked with its arms swinging in an exaggerated motion and was stooped over as it walked.  it had a very large head and almost no area which we would describe as a neck.  i would estimate it as being 7 to 8 feet tall and 500 to 600 lbs.   
 

ACTIVITIES OF WITNESS:   I worked during night time and when someone said that this was a man in a gorilla suit trying to play a trick on me, i thought he would have been both very patient and very lucky.  he had no way of knowing where i would be at any given time so that i could witness this "sighting" and i carried a .357 and am a pretty good shot.  i have no knowledge of any other such sightings in this area and i did not see anything further.
