I was reading your page regarding the Bigfoot sighting at Sunflower Munitions
Depot in Johnson County, KS and felt like I should submit a story that
was relayed to me by the first-hand viewer. My friend, was in the Army
during the early 1990’s and was doing a low and slow flight over the abandoned
fields of the munitions depot in a Chinook helicopter. He was peering out
the side when he noticed something very large dragging what appeared to
be a deer. At first, he did a double-take and was then sure of what he
was seeing. It was a very large ape-like creature, but was certainly bipedal.
It was dragging a large deer by its hind legs using one hand. It was walking
slowly through the thick brush of the field and was heading to the tree
line only about fifty yards away. He had mentioned to me that he had heard
stories of this very creature inhabiting the area, but always blew them
off as just stupid tales. The other guys in the helicopter saw the same
thing. They had flown the route many times and had not seen anything out
of the ordinary before. He is a very reliable source and has his head on
straight. They did not see it again, but always kept an eye out for it
after the encounter. The creature, he fervently noted, was not phased by
the sound of the aircraft and did not even bother looking up. This struck
him as everyone knows the Chinook is a very loud and noisy helicopter.
This, he explained was the most striking thing of all—it must have been
there for a long time and was clearly accustomed to the presence of military
craft. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. My friend does not
want his name used or what unit he was with for fear of reprisal.
