Report Posted To GCBRO Web Site On  October 1, 2008

DATE:    1993

TIME:     Late Afternoon

LOCATION:   Harvey County, Kansas

TERRAIN:    Wooded

OBSERVED:    I had come home to see my parents for the summer as we did most every summer.
I was walking towards the east pasture and when I got near the old pole barn, I was stopped by a low gutteral sound unlike anything I have ever heard before. I grew up on these farms, hunting and fishing and working the fields all my life.
I didn't have the gun with me, so I quickly made my way back to the house, swearing I will never walk on the land again without a loaded gun.

My friends tell me I most likely heard a Buck deer.
I am not so sure now what I heard, after reading all the accounts on this site and also the documentary programs on TV.

We have also been told Kansas has no large Cats, but our renters saw a black panther on the farm in 1954, and we have lots of other sightings of large cats near by.

Activities of Witness:   I was with my children and parents in the house before going out for a walk.

Description of Creature:  Only the terrible deep gutteral sound several times like I was being told to stay back!
