TIME:
Around Midnight
LOCATION:
Harvey County, Kansas
TERRAIN:
Wooded
OBSERVED: Several of us had gathered together upon my brothers arrival from Texas for a visit. We all decided to go visit a friends farm and show him around basically because none of us wanted to go to bed yet. We went to go show him an old grave stone that lay at the top of this steep hill. The hill was very steep and we had to help on each other to the crest, upon arrival we stared in awe at something on the ground. It was as tall as a man but much thinner and it rolled around in a bare patch of grass, basically just frolicking in the dirt like a dog would. It caught sight of us and we just kept looking at it, all of us looked because we were to startled to move.
A good friend of mine being the genius that he is picked up a baseball sized rock and hurled it with all of his strength, striking the beast around the the left front shoulder blade or there abouts. The animal staggered back in pain then lunged forward on all fours with teeth bared. and the sound it made will haunt me forever. Like a cats snarls except throatier, and more like a cat that's smoked all its life. Well we tore out of there without a moments notice.
Remember that really steep hill?
Well running and hills don't mix, a friend fell on the way down but before
she hit the earth I had a hold of her by the back of the pants and when
I grabber her I looked back and he was gaining on us, taking the hill with
ease. I tossed my friend in through the open back window turned the
key, and we got the hell out of there
Activities of Witness:
Visiting a local farm area late at night. That day we basically saw
the animal and left, weren't there more than ten minutes prior to seeing
it
Description of Creature:
About six foot tall maybe a little less, about 175-200 lbs, covered with
thick dark hair, lighter hair on the face and belly region. We have
seen this animal around 30 times over the last couple of years, usually
just a glimpse as it steps forward out of the tree line then back.
However once or twice we've been up close and very personal with it, including
discovering it feasting on dead cattle once or twice, watching it knock
a barn door off the hinges because it was trapped , and once it threw a
rock at my friend. Our group is divided on several aspects of the
animal, in my opinion it plans escape routes very carefully to avoid water,
from ponds to puddles I think its truly scared of water. However
some of my crew say they've seen it swim. My brother says he's seen
a long black panther like tail on the animal but in all of my encounters
the tail was absent
Other Notes:
It made a snarl, that's the first time we've ever heard it make any noise,
to me the most important thing about this story is that whatever it was
its just like any other creature and it can be surprised, and hurt
Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments: Upon contact the witness had no additional information to add to this report.
