LOCATION:
Suwannee County, Florida
TERRAIN:
Hardwood forests, planted pines and pastures.
OBSERVED:
This siting was described to me by a college educated professional woman
(Registered Nurse) who chooses to remain anonymous for fear of ridicule
and possible damage to her career.
The witness was driving home in
the early morning hours (after finishing her shift) northwest on xxxxxxx
Road when she noticed a "bear" running in the middle of the two lane paved
road a couple hundred yards in front of her vehicle. As she approached
the animal she realized that this thing could not possibly be a bear because
it's physical characteristics were not those of a bear.
She than rationalized in her mind that this thing was probably a prank- possibly a man wearing a gorilla suit- and began to tap her horn so it would leave the roadway. It wouldn't move. When she was within fifty yards of the animal she noticed it's considerable height, long, easy strides (she described the animal as "jogging" and clocked it's pace at 20 mph on her speedometer) and the fact that it's large hands were swinging right below the knees. This was NOT a man.
When she got around fifty to sixty
feet from the animal it finally veered off into the grass and off the roadway.
As she slowly approached the animal, on her right passenger side, the animal
turned its entire upper torso to it's left to look at her vehicle and she
noticed the animal to have large, glowing yellow eyes. She than said she
started to tremble and drove home as fast as she could.
Activities of Witness:
The witness was on her way home following her shift at the local hospital.
Description of Creature:
She described the animal as being eight to nine feet tall and covered in
a dark brown hair. She said there was no hair on the palms of it's hands
and very little, if any, on the face. The eyes were large and colored yellow.
The animal was running at a steady pace (20 mph) when it ran unto the grass
shoulder and slowed to take a look at her. She said the animal appeared
to have no neck and had to turn it's entire upper body to get a glimpse
of her vehicle. She approximated the weight of the animal as being "several
hundred pounds".
Other Notes:
I have heard of MANY alleged sightings of this animal/creature(s) in neighboring
Lafayette County roughly twenty minutes
southwest of here. Those sightings
supposedly took place in the Cooks Hammock and Mallory Swamp regions of
that particular county and have not been documented on this database or
any other databases that I have researched.
