DATE: 3-1-95
TIME: At night around 11:30 P.M.
LOCATION:
Osprey, Florida, Sarasota County
TERRAIN:
Wooded, low lying area that is swampy in rainy season
OBSERVED:
Our
home was last on dead end, woods along back and side, I was cutting trees
back and takeing branches through saw grass field to throw away.
On the edge of trees in the grass i found a area where something large
had been lieing down. The grass was flaten in a about 4 ft x 8 ft
section.
Next
my wife started to help me take the limbs back and every time we would
walk down the trail we would smell some thing horrible, like rotten food, and
dead animal.
My
wife would gag every time she smelt it. Then that night my wife went
to smoke on back porch, she came running right back in screaming that some
thing big was out side of porch. I told her it probably was a racoon
and went out to see. I went to edge of screen but too dark to see
anything so I gave a little yelp to scare it away.
This
thing was right there and screamed loud like a woman screaming at the top
of her lungs. I ran back in the house and shut the door. We
stood there listening to this thing going through the woods screaming and
breaking branches. We could feel every step this thing took just
like a human one step at a time. We heard it makeing a trail through
the woods for about 10 minutes. The next day I went out to see and I was
amazed. It made a trail
about 8 ft high and 4 ft across of broken tree limbs some as thick as 10
inches round. I lived there for years and never came across any thing
like this before.. No deer, pig, bobcat, or human could of sounded nor
make a trail like that.
