TIME:     3:30-4:00pm on a clear day 
 

LOCATION:   Okeechobee or Osceola County, Florida
 

TERRAIN:    Wooded, We were traveling northbound on the Fl turnpike and was somewhere between Ft Drum and Lake Marion. 
 

OBSERVED:    There was a large hairy animal crouched down just off the southbound turnpike. It was a heavily wooded area, we were the only car for miles. The animal was in the grass shoulder just off the roadway, hunched over. It appeared to be eating road kill. It looked up, made eye contact and basically stared us down until we were out of view. I wanted to U-turn through the turnpike median (greenbelt) but my husband was completely against it. It's looks were that eerie and threatening. It was much larger then a 6' human. I would estimate 7.5-9.5 ft. I was in the northbound passing lane and it was just off the southbound shoulder. I had taken my foot off the gas and had a good loooong look. My husband asked if I had just seen something. He wanted to hear what I had observed. The descriptions to the hunched over and appeared to be eating were IDENTICAL.

Activities of Witness:   We were driving northbound on the turnpike with our 14 yr. old twins enroute from Islamorada in the Fl Keys to Kissimmee where we were attending a Van Morrison concert. We were wide awake and it was a clear day. No obstructions, no other autos.  
 

Description of Creature:  Large 7.5-9.5 ft  Matted dark brownish black more hair like than fur. Coat seemed approx. 4 inches in length. Chest area was less thick.  Eyes were PIERCING and it absolutely stared until we were out of view.
