DATE:    07/?/97

TIME:     about midnight

LOCATION:   Collier County, Florida

TERRAIN:    National Forest

OBSERVED:    A scream very loud in dense woods 10 feet from my location.

Additional things: the stillness of that night , missing night sounds and no gators in the area which is unheard of. I was actually looking around with a flashlight making sure that there were no gators on the shore and or snakes at the pond, we looked around for a few seconds before pulling back out of there but didn't see anything , the scream  lasted about ten seconds and was meant for us sort of like a territorial call I figured, no smells other then swamp( decaying vegetation ; stagnant water) on other occasion I have smelled rotting meat and urine smells near a shelter I found (crude shelter) made of vegetation sort of weaved together very well.  rough terrain and deep swamp. I always look and go to out of reach places , I usually try to go to areas that have very little human activity ,as I seek the peace and quiet of nature.

Activities of Witness:   cat fishing at night , just arrived and was settling in when the scream occurred; one scream (sounded like a lion/bear mixed and I've heard them all, I'm also  former military and am very good at tracking wild life and love nature so I am not one that will run from something especially when me and my friend were both carrying high powered handguns (a 40 cal. glock and a357 magnum at the time of the scream ) well I'll tell you  I never seen two guys run so fast in the pitch black of night with buckets fishing poles and coolers what took us 20 minutes to do we did in 30 seconds on the way out of the swamp

Description of Creature:  none seen only heard

Other Notes:    I felt that we disturbed something  as the scream seemed directed at us and was very VERY loud enough to be felt not from fear but from the percussion I felt it hit me like a sound wave ;froze me and a friend in our tracks( my friend is part apache he also called it a wild man but did not explain to me what that meant at the time again and that's when I started to try and figure this out , years later he still will not use the word bigfoot or skunk ape. another time  I was a lot younger fishing with the  same friend who is about ten years older then me, this was about 30 years ago in the general area I found a track that looked to be about 15 to 18 inches in  length (approx)friends boots were a 13 triple e  and it dwarfed his boots , this was the  first time I heard him say wild indian back here roaming around and he looked spooked , me being young back then he told me we had to leave; he looked concerned and would not tell me what was going on. hope this helps.I've been fishing and hunting in this national forest for over 30 years now.

Other (Informational or Encounter History in the General Area) Notes:    plenty of tracks found in hard to reach places (before and after) before the scream I thought there was somebody walking around barefoot with giant feet, I was told by a local Miccosukee indian that they were from a wild indian ?? I didn't realize that he meant Bigfoot at the time, I thought he meant some crazy indian (disturbed) because you have to be crazy to walk through a swamp infested with poisonous snakes, cotton mouth; diamond back, pigmy, coral , gators everywhere.

Additional Notes and or Follow up Comments In the general area where I heard the scream , since then I've found tracks ranging from 9 inches to 14" inches all were much wider then a normal human print even the small ones, I truly believe that this magnificent species is alive and doing well in the area, very elusive and intelligent ; mostly nocturnal, I could walk all through the interior of florida all the way to the pan handle and never be seen because of all the cover available , few roads here and there but the interior is mostly farm land and management area's , totaling more then 2 million acres just between big cypress and the Everglades then you have corkscrew swamp which is another place that I stayed at in a cabin deep in  the woods and had someone follow me from a creek all the way to the cabin and never saw it , whatever it was  was  bipedal and stealthy never showing itself , no animal sounds around really spooky but I was not aware of bigfoot being down here (or actually did not want to believe cause quite frankly it scared the sh... out of me even though I had a hand gun on me the woods were so thick that I feared lack of reaction time to defend myself

The places I go to are not your common tourist stomping grounds in fact there is little or no access.
