TIME: Ongoing
LOCATION: Manitoba, Canada
TERRAIN: Wooded
OBSERVED: Small
farm animals missing, dead, moved to
another location.
Additional Things: All of the behavior described by website veggies garden raided fruit etc, banging on house, large German Shepherd unwilling to confront, cowering on doorstep, ect. That dog would run anything off had complete faith in her, blamed lots of stuff on her rabbit cage ripped open chicken coop open missing birds etc....she got lots of beatings almost killed her with 2by4over chickens. Then I find dead cats and ckickens wedged in tree forks by farm yard. Cats don't climb in tree forks to die neither do chckens. I still wonder how they got there and why my chickens would be at neighbors house unharmed and he was embarrassed and angry. Said his dog must have brought them home.. I have never seen nor heard of a Collie dog bringing live chickens home and let go unharmed. Really weird went on for about a year then quit and intermittently after that. We were the only farm on a migration route from a national park for about 20 miles in a valley with a creek running thru. spring and fall saw lots of moose deer bear etc. Have farmed all my life wouldn't even questioned any of this till dead cats wedged in tree forks, really stuck in about 10-12 ft off ground would need a ladder to remove. Then there was a 3-4 month period when dog would push past me to kids bedroom to make sure they were all there she would smell each child till satisfied and then go outside. I was in shock the first time as she had never been allowed in the house, when she stepped on kitchen floor nails scraped and she was even more freaked out than me. I would not tell this story in public as farmers here don't acknowledge these things, but I still wonder about it.
