DATE: Between Christmas and New years of 1999
TIME: Before Daylight
LOCATION: Alabama, Franklin County, Bear Creek Lake
TERRAIN: Wooded
OBSERVED: This is an e-mail that we received concerning another incident in Alabama, in the same area.
I also fish that lake alot. It is a very isolated area. Most of the time when I'm there it is in the wintertime. It is a very good lake to crappie fish on. But on to my story, if you want to call it one.
I
fish there alot by myself. There are no houses on this lake. Between Christmas
and New years of 1999 I was on vacation and one morning of that week, I
got to the lake before daylight. I waited for it to get light enough
for
me to see and then got out of the truck to get the boat ready for the water.
I kept getting this feeling that someone was watching me. I looked all
around, but never seen anything. So I put the boat in the water and went
to fishing. Around 7:00 am I got to hearing a sound like to pieces of firewood
being hit together. I kept trying to figure out where it was coming from,
but never could. I heard the sound for about 15 minutes. On New years eve
day my girlfriend and myself were there and around 8:00am we started hearing
the same sound that I had heard a couple days earlier. I asked her if she
knew what it was. She said she didn't and that it sounded like someone
slamming a piece of firewood against a tree. Anyway, we never seen anything
or heard much more than that. I have read on some online reports, I think
from Ohio, that this is sometimes heard in the area of Bigfoot sightings.
Just wondered if you had ever encountered anything of this nature. If there
is anything that I can help you with in this area, or you have any ideas
on what the noise we are hearing is, please email and let me know.
